Disgusting – I gave it one star because you are required to give a rating. This place is disgusting. Dirty, Rude, and hasTERRIBLE FOOD. That's all that needs to be said.
Worst Pizza In Philly – This pizza place is a scam and the literally robbed us the other night. We placed an order off a link from THIER website. After we didn't have our food for 1.5 hours we called them and apparently the order was sitting on thier computer and no one did anything with it. So we were told we would get free drinks and it would be another half hour. When we got our order we paid $40.00 plus tip. We were missing a side dish and the pizza order was wrong. Plus the slip that was inside the order only said $30.00. I called and asked for a manager. This jack ass Rich was the beyond unapologetic and told me that it was our fault that we ordered OFF THIER ONLINE LINK and that there was nothing that he would do for us. So buyer beware! There are thousands of great pizza places in Philly this is not one of them. They do not care about you or the food they serve you. I will be telling everyone who asks about pizza places exactly how awful they are. Furthermore I hope "Rich" gets punched in the face one day for they way he treats people.
Thanks Richie, your customer service and food are the best! – Richie, your Buffalo Wings are the best and thanks to you I passed my class with an "A".
I look forward to visiting your establishment in the near future.
You're the Greatest!
Good Food, Great People!! – I went to Paolo's for some wings and beer, which they always have good specials on (beer-wise)
and everyone was super nice, the owner or manager is very friendly and helpful.
This was the 4th visit I made there and every time they have made good food. I also have a greek salad on another visit and it was delicious and they seemed to work to make a good presentation.
The wings were also very good, I chose hot, which was lip burning hot, very good!
I do not know what the other reviewers are talking about, but I think the place is great!!
He used a pizza cutter that dropped on the floor!! :( – We have eaten at Paolo's several times and the pizza's good. However, on several occasions we have experienced issues with cleaniness. On 2 occasions, we noticed a hair baked into the pizza. Hair nets people, please! The latest (and most disgusting) was this evening, when while grabbing a pizza cutter to cut the pie, the employee dropped it and then proceeded to pick it up and cut our pizza!?! Gross!
Again, good pizza, but at this point I wonder how much other unexpected cr*p I've eaten with my pizza!
yeah . . . not so much. – I go to UArts so paolo's is a convenient choice but as of tonight, I refuse to make that choice again. This review is based on several experiences from the last year.
First of all my burger was missing the top bun, which is slightly ridiculous. It's a burger. there are 2 parts to a bun, I didn't think it was that hard; apparently I was wrong.
Lets move on to the gnarly garlic bread, there was a blob of garlic paste plopped in the middle of the bread and that was all, not even spread out and not warm either.
Their pasta is bland and not enjoyable. I think that spaghetti-o's would probably be a better option. for an Italian place they aren't doing so well with italian food.
I don't hate their pizza but I never get it because it's too expensive (around $3 a slice.) for only being so-so.
Their salads are usually soggy but still better than most of the actual meals, there which is pretty sad.
their appetizers are good but they come out of a bag so I don't see how you could mess those up.
Oh and the owner (I'm guessing he's the owner) is a creep. he's either super mean, to customers and employees, or he's hitting on the 'cute' girls that come in and ignoring the people in line waiting to order. It's attitude city with that guy and it just adds to the terrible experience of paolo's.
do yourself a favor and get food anywhere else.
I'd rather go to Pizza Hut during some 12 year olds birthday party – The pizza is much better than chain pizza, even if it has been sitting out for 5 hours. Everything else about this place stinks though. The slices are expensive, and the toppings for todays slices, are picked off of yesterdays throwaways. Twice I've gone in there when some crazy Italian(the owner?) is screaming at one scared employee or another. If my order isn't cold, than it takes at least 30 minutes to get. Granted I understand if it's busy, but every time? I've given this place many chances, and I would not recommend it at all. Oh, and the workers don't get the tips in the tip jar. That nice cashier you just gave a dollar to? You didn't give it to them, you gave it to the owner.
Good most of the time but not consistent – I would consider myself a "regular" to Paolo's - I eat there at least once a week because it is convenient. The pizza is good, as are most of the other menu offerings (avoid the buffalo wings). The staff are friendly most of the time but the owner can get real snippy when it gets busy there. There have been a few times where my order got forgotten in the mix, and my food has been cold several times, but the owner is really nice about making it up to you when you let him know you're unhappy.
One of the best pizza places in the city – The people who wrote negative reviews for this are absolutely mental. The owner is extremely nice and in no way pompous. When my friend was moving into an apartment directly next to his, he offered her and her family a free pie while they moved their things in.
In addition to being extremely friendly, this store also has some of the best plain and gourmet pizza offerings in the city, and definitely in the center city area. Personal favorites of mine are the four-cheese pizza and the eggplant/olive combination pizza.
One last thing...
The owner and employees goes well out of their way to create an atmosphere that is both inviting to the college students nearby (University of the Arts having it's own special veggie burger), as well as every other person who enters.
5 Star Plus. Amazing.
don't go – They say they take credit cards on their sites but they are lazy and have an ATM right next to the cash register which takes $2.00 to get money out(and then your bank charged another fee). It is completely unnecessary and a pain, especially because the food is lousy! Owner is pompous too.
