I ordered my bridesmaid dress through this shop and had an AWFUL experience. They added inches to my dress after I specifically ordered a certain size. They tried to tell me that I was "making things up" and that the dress should fit me fine. It did not...it was too big! When asked for a partial refund to pay for the alterations that now needed to be done, they refused. They also took a week to respond to my request. If you would like a pleasant wedding experience I would not reccommend working with Forever Formals.
From an alterations business owner's side - – From an alterations business owner's side of things, we are not always at our best. At busy times of the year we work extra long hours to keep up with orders. And for sure, not all of our customers are stellar. At times we are swamped with too many customers in the store at the same time. Cell phones are ringing, customers are arguing with each other, and some can't make up their minds. As sales associates we are drawn in several directions at one time so it can appear that we are disorganized. TV shows like "Say Yes to the Dress" only scratch the surface of some of the drama that takes place in a bridal shop. I would offer that there are a multitude of places to purchase formal wear. A shop does not exist that has not had a problem over a gown with a customer. Read the negative and the positive comments. Then make your choice where to shop for your gown...
Horrible Experience!!!! Added inches to your measurements!!! – Everything seemed fine when I went there the first time and I was even impressed by the friendliness and service. But when I returned to order the dress they had me in tears over the size that they were insisting on ordering.
They wanted to order a 20 when I am barely a 14. I later found out that they added 2 inches to each of my hip, waist and bust measurements!!!! However I didn't know this at the time and I was very upset and they kept making me feel fatter and fatter by the moment. They loudly kept discussing my measurements and made me look at the size chart as if to prove their point. My mother and FMIL couldn't get the woman to shut up. Yet the dress I really wanted was there and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so we paid the deposit and made plans for the bridesmaid dresses
The next day I emailed to confirm some details and I also mentioned what an awful experience that I had the other night and that I hoped it wouldn't happen again. They responded by returning my deposit and saying it wasn't in our best interest to work together. They made me feel like some horrible bridezilla and insulted my size repeatedly and yet some how it okay for them to refuse service???
Seriously please stay away- they will order the wrong size, make you feel fat and then somehow blame it on you!
Best Bridal Experience – I have the highest praise and respect for Cheryl Steele, her staff and Forever Formals. My experience as a bride to be was flawless from the moment I walked in until I received my dresses for myself and my bridesmaids. Cheryl goes way and beyond the normal customer service guidelines; you would not get this same service at a larger store. Cheryl greeted me when I walked in and made me feel like I was at home which went along with the ambience of her store. She showed me around the downstairs, and I saw the different inventory of the long and short bridesmaids’ gowns, as well as the darling flower girl dresses. Thereafter, she took me upstairs to the bridal gown section where I asked her for help and she picked out some gowns for me to try on. I ended up choosing the second gown that I tried on and ordered the gown that same day. Of course, I ended up ordering the rest of my bridal party’s dresses from Forever Formals. Everything was delivered by the promised date. Since I am petite, my dress needed to be altered significantly. They did a great job! The alterations were exceptional! I would recommend (and have recommended) all brides to be to this wonderful establishment. Thank you Cheryl!
Limited Communication, Unpleasent Shopping Experience – I entered this store 7 months prior to the wedding, and was told that if I ordered my dress that day, it would arrive March 8. My dress arrived over a month late, only leaving 3 weeks for alterations. No one at the shop called to communicate the dress would be late, which left myself and my maid of honor calling almost everyday until someone would pick up to answer our questions. Everytime we did speak to somone, we were told different dates of arrival time, and none of the information became true. This shopping experience wasn't the hightlight of my wedding, and caused a lot of uneccessary stress. My bridesmaid dresses also arrived over a month late, leaving only a week and half for alteration before the wedding. The employees of the shop continued not to return our phone calls regarding the arrival time of the the bridesmaid dresses as well. The alerations were also not well done. I went back 4 times for a fitting, once with the top fabric hemmed, but none of the under fabric. When I tried the dress on during this visit it looked terriable. The hem was fixed, but wasn't done well.
I was told by the shop that they fulfilled their obligations by getting the dresses here by the "when date". Do you know when the when date is? The day of your wedding. I would not recommend this boutique due to the stress, and the investment of time it took to get the dresses delievered before the wedding. We had in writing when the dresses were going to be delivered, but the shop denied the written date several times. When leaving the shop- the owner was going to charge me full price. I did speak up by asking for compensation for the time and energy it took to get the dresses delivered. By the time I picked up my gown- I felt like I worked for the shop- b/c of how much time I had invested in tracking down the gowns. The boutique did give me 50% on alterations of my wedding gown, and the rush money and an additional 10% back on the bridesmaid dresses for the delay and frustration this process caused.
If I could give you any advise, it woudl be to order your dress somewhere else. Even with the small amount of compensation, this wasn't worth the time or energy to get the dresses when they could have been ordered somewhere else. I hope my experience will help your wedding dress shopping experience.
Congratulations Forever Formals for being voted Best Of in the Knot Magazine. You are a wonderful boutique that needs to be recognized for your hard work. Congrats Cheryl for raising the bar on good standards and making your shop a charming and professional place to have a great experience in preparing for a wedding.
Yes I used them again. The shop did a fantastic job with my sister's gown (a Raylia) and my mother's dress. My sister had grand ideas of changes she wanted and Cheryl did every one of them and my sister was gorgeous, everyone wanted to know where she purchased this beautiful gown. The staff was great, even in the mist of the busy season they were always happy and helpful, Cheryl, Kathy and everyone else always had time to assist us. My mother's dress needed adjustments because she had a mastectomy, Cheryl worked wonders and you could not tell. Once again they did a great job. Ignore the negative things you hear. This has got to be the best little kept secret in Chester County.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE – Please spare yourself the heartache of going to this shop. We ordered dresses from this shop 9 months before my friends wedding only to be stuck 3 weeks before having to scramble to find other dresses. The two owners promises and lies are disgraceful. They ordered me a dress 10 sizes too big and then cut the tags out of the dress so that I wouldn't know (we called the manufacturer and they verified that all of their dresses are sent out with size tags in them). When I went back telling them it was too big they promised to alter it so that it would fit perfectly. The dress was then BUTCHERED by them and definitely not wearable and still way too big. It was disgusting what they had done to this dress and claimed that it was altered correctly. They are now refusing to refund me my money stating that they have a no refund policy. I definitely did not get what I paid for. The wedding party is now in the process of taking them to court as a result of their rude and negligent behavior. Very POOR customer service!
DON"T BUY ANYTHING!!! – Forever Formals ordered the wrong size dresses for my bridesmaid and then tried to say it wasn't their fault. They ordered a size 20 for a girl who was a size 6. Another dress had a tear up the seam and the other dress was tight on the last bridesmaid!!! The whole experience was horrible from start to finish!! Wrong sizes, tooks 6 months for dresses to come in, they tried altering the dress but only butchered it . It was so bad that I would have been embarassed to be seen in public inthe dress. Not to mention all the lies and deception by the owner. I had to order new dresses online three weeks before my wedding!!! I could go on ofrever about this but hoipefully it is enough to stop anyone from buying anything from them!!!
