I am no fan of Planet Honda sales staff. I thought I would give their service a try when I got a coupon for a free paint sealant and a cheap price for an oil change. The service was fast, professional, with a nice waiting room. It was the best Honda service visit I have ever had and I have been buying Honda cars since 1980.
I recently purchased a Fit 2013 car from Planet Honda. I was very pleased with the courteous greeting I received as I was stepping out of my car. My salesperson, Fred Guyton, was very helpful during my search for a vehicle. I am handicapped and could not walk through the lot. He asked me what type of vehicle I was interested in and methodically selected cars for me to exam. It was raining so I could slip easily with my cane. He brought each car into the building and helped me in and out of the cars.
The financing process was also polite and expediant. It was this experience that convenienced me to make a purchase.
Once I decided on the car I would purchase Mr. Guyton took me on a tour of my car to ensure I new how to operate all the dash board features.
I highly recommend this dealership to anyone thinking about buying a car. I had special chanllenges that they handled with compassion. My salesperson demonstrated a high level of knowledge on the vehicles, both under the hood and aesthetically.
Thank you Planet Honda and Mr. Guyton for a great shopping experience. Women are often treated as uninformed. I appreciate the professional manner displayed throughout my visit.
I am very happy with the service I get from Planet Honda. The service team is great. I love the coupons I get online, and in the mail. Keep up the good work you do on my car.
Bait and Switch, Did not keep commitment to beat price – Caution to everyone who is dealing with Planet Honda. They would bait and switch and are not upfront. They asserted very convincingly that I can bring the best written quote from any competitors and they will beat it by $300. When I went back with the written quote, they started splitting hair in every way they could to refuse to honor on the commitment since the quote was competitive.
In my case they tried to add the destination charge on top of the sale price as external charge. When I showed in email that destination charge was already included in the quote from competitor, they said they do not see total out-the-door price and competitor will add shady charges later. When I told him that I can get the breakdown and out-the-price next day ( since it was 8.00 pm that night), he refused to commit to sell/honor beating the price if I came back next day with the written quote. He suggested me to buy from the competitor and he cannot give at that price.
Looks like they bait people by saying they will beat any price and if this not suit them, they will not honor. You might end up wasting your valuable time and money travelling long distance to expect good deal. Only after wasting my day, I went to check ratings of Planet Honda on forums and found that others have already had similar bad experiences. I wish I knew.
Reasonable to say, be extra cautious and get things in writing on commitment to beat price. I tried to get in written but was unsuccessful.
Don't have your car serviced here if you care about it – Do NOT use the service department at Planet Toyota in Matteson, IL. They are scum. I took my 2010 Toyota Prius here at 20000 miles to get my oil changed and instead of $60 synthetic oil, they put $20 conventional oil in my car. According to the service department at another, credible Toyota dealership, this can cause motor damage to my Prius. The customer service is anything but... they would not resolve my issue because I've since moved to another state. I have filed a complaint with Toyota's corporate office and the BBB. Not only did Planet Toyota fill my car with the WRONG oil, they tried to convince me to wait until my next oil change and told me it would be fine.
Bottom line: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. They do not have your best interest, nor the best interest of your vehicle, in mind. And, after reading several negative reviews online about that dealership in general, DO NOT BUY YOUR VEHICLE FROM PLANET TOYOTA. Their staff is comprised of scum. Go to another dealership if you want peace of mind.

Lacking Customer Service – We bought our CR-V here in August 2008, and we will not make the mistake of ever going back to this dealership. Part of our purchase agreement was that they would fix the front bumper on their ?certified car? since someone had obviously backed into it. We were told it would be no problem and would be called when the part was in. It took 6 weeks of us calling to get the car fixed and we are now being charged rental fees. I have called numerous times and have even gone back to the dealer to straighten this out to no avail (it is now October). Two calls to Honda Corporate have not solved the problem and we've had to resort to filing a complaint with the state's attorney general.
Their favorite game seems to be pass the customer, which they do both when trying to negotiate and use as a customer service strategy. Save your time and aggravation and buy a Honda from a dealer who will treat you decently.
