In 2003, Nakama Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar made its appearance in Pittsburgh's trendy South Side. Savor the incredible creations with limitless options provided by our sushi chef, which are almost too beautiful to eat. Almost.
Nakama is a hip, trendy scene where patrons can enjoy the knife-wielding skill and showmanship of our specially trained chefs, our unique appetizers and the best sushi in Pittsburgh. Our guests will be rewarded with frequent dining points upon joining our free VIP program.
The private party room is available for private functions and large group dining.
My favorite!!!! – Nakama is the best restuarant in Pittsburgh!! I have eaten there several times and have had the best service and food each and every time. The serving staff and cooks are friendly, attentive and informative and the food is out of this world. The menu has something for everyone...even vegetarians! I highly recommend Nakama!
Love the spider rolls – They have the best spider rolls there. Excellent service. I usually get takeout during my lunch hour and they are very quick and always very nice. Its the best sushi in town.
Best sushi I have eaten at a very good price – Excellent service and the food was beyond my expectation. I have eaten sushi in many places across the world and this is one of the best. Presentation was well done and the price was the best part. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good sushi and Japenese food.
No other Japanese in Pittsburgh compares to Nakama! – This restaurant is downright amazing. From the decor and ambience on through to its sushi and hibachi-style dinners, Nakama epitomizes the perfect dining experience. In addition, they send out informative monthly newsletters, hold contests, and generally treat their patrons better than any local restaurant. Go to Nakama and you'll see what I mean!
Best sushi and hibachi bar in Pittsburgh – The service and food are always excellent. I have tried almost everything on the menu and never got something I didn't enjoy! If you go on a busy Friday or Saturday enjoy a drink at the well stocked bar and order the sampler platter you won't be dissappointed.
Top Notch Sushi at Top Notch Prices – I heard about Nakama through a friend, and because I am an avid sushi lover I couldn't wait to try it. I have tried sushi throughout the United States, and (I make it a point to wherever I go), and Pittsburgh's Nakama definitely takes the cake! They have an amazing variety of sushi, as well as a yummy drink menu (My personal fav is the Cosmo). The past two times I have visited I ordered a roll and shared another one with a friend, and our bill is extremely affordable and we leave equally as satisfied. Also, Nakama is popular and always busy, but I've gotten a seat at the sushi bar very quickly every visit. A must try!
Hands-Down Favorite Restaurant in the Burg! – I have become a devotee of Nakama and make it a point to eat there a few times a month. The sushi is the best I've eaten ANYWHERE! Even in my travels, I have found no other japanese restaurant that even comes close. The Hanalei and Boston Rolls are not to be missed!!! I've even taken friends to Nakama who swore they didn't like sushi and they've always left with a whole different outlook. The service is almost always superb (everyone has an off day now and again) and the food is ALWAYS spectacular! Parking on the South Side is always an issue, but Nakama has offset that by offering valet parking - well worth the extra $$.
Great place for a night out with the girls! – My girls and I had an awesome time at Nakama this last visit, just like all the others. I'm not a big fan of sushi and that type of food, but I definately loved what I got. My friends shared with me and now I may actually like it, because I tried it. Excellent food, excellent service, can't wait to go back!
Best Dining Experience in Pittsburgh! – I admit, I am writing this for the $10 gift certificate. However Nakama gets my dinner dollars anyway so I am happy to be able to save a few dollars eating at one of my favorite restaurants. I have never visited this site before, so I am glad to write a review based on my experiences. I am not prone to dining out alot but Nakama is one place that I truly love. I have eaten at the restaurant many times and have had a pleasant dining experience each and every time. I am not an expert on sushi and everytime I order, I always ask the a server for a suggestion and they have never led me a-stray!
One of the best features, which many people may find as a negative, is that the restaurant is always busy, always packed, and to me that means its a great restaurant! I would rather wait to eat at a quality restaurant than be the only person at a "greasy spoon".
If you are looking for great food, great atmosphere, a memorable experience, then NAKAMA is the place to go!
Great food, great time!! – I have been to Nakama twice....once for dinner and once for lunch. Both were excellent. I actually recommend lunch because it is less crowded and only a little less food for a lot less money. However, I would not hesitate to go at any time. I have been to several hibachi restaurants and this is the best by far.
