What happened to Courtney's BBQ?. My husband & I used to go to Courtney's at least 3 to 4 times a month. After the last two awful visits, I would only go back if it was the only place left open. The BBQ now has an overly-smoked, almost burnt, chemical taste to it and the hushpuppies are little overly fried squiggles of greasy yuck. On our last visit, my husband's chicken and fries were dark brown (either over fried, or worse - re-fried leftovers). This place used to be the standard for great BBQ but has seriously gone downhill.
Hit Or Miss. I've had great BBQ, and great fish from here, I've also had some mediocre BBQ from here, It seems to depend on who is in charge...and who you are connected to. They are huge proponents of the Clover School District, hiring mostly people who are associated with the school district. If you are aware of the lock on tax dollars the the Clover school district demands, and the amount of incompetence they accept from their employees, you will understand and accept the service you receive from these same people in a 'free market' system.
