Good food and great service! – We eat out a lot, having a local business and crazy hours.
We are so happy we tried this location of Miyo's! A bit more relaxing than the other location in big mall complexes.
The food is always fresh and appealing to the eye. The service is always impeccable. John loves the Haiku roll to start and then General Tso's. Cyndi loves the chicken lettuce wraps as her meal.
The salted caramel cheesecake for dessert is decadent and more than any couple could share at a sitting.
The only "disappointment" we've ever had here, was that fact that on the entrance-way door it says "Dim sum", yet they do not have this item on their menu! Were working on this now....
New renovations are BEAUTIFUL - Excellent Food! – I have been a patron of Miyo's for many years and would like to highly recommend this reataurant to anyone who lives in or visits the Columbia area. The wonderful dishes the Chef's prepare always taste and look amazing. The staff is very friendly and I have been served by the sames servers for many years ... which is a testament to good managment and a happy workforce. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for wonderful all-round dining experience.
Consistent and Dependable – Very few restaurants would get a 5 star, so 4 here means this place is very, very good. If you are picking up, it's always ready on time and hot. If you dine in, the staff is rather tenured, which is always a good sign to me. Most will remember you after 2-3 visits and acknowledge that. The menu, recently updated, is comprehensive and very broad now - it needed updating and did not disappoint. Appetizers are nice, with the bacon-wrapped scallops best in class. If you order the Tempura Rock Shrimp, ask for "extra-crispy" - wonderful (actually can be a main course as it's a generous portion). Sushi is solid and the usual suspects ( general tso's, sesame chicken, etc.) are all there. One standout feature is the freshness of the vegetables in all entrees - like same-day fresh. Wine list is improved and now suggested "feature drinks" are a welcome addition, especially for those who want to be told "something fun" to have. Beer and liquor selection are comprehensive, which is also an improvement. I have dined alone and with up to 8 and the service is most always consistently proficient - in the very rare occasions that I did not receive something ordered (salad or 1 of multiple appetizers ordered) I have yet to find it charged on the bill....always an uncomfortable correction to have to point out. On the occasional slow service night or inattentive staff member, I find that a manager is usually on the ball and rectifies expediently....as a matter of fact, I don't recall seeing a bad waiter/waitress twice.
Since the addition of the new space, there is much more intimacy while dining - the old layout lent itself to having others in very close proximity, which for me is uncomfortable....fun to be in a full restaurant, but I like some space in between tables. No problem now. The only real drawback is if dining alone you choose to eat at the bar when the restaurant is busy - it's very close to a run of booths and a bit cramped....however, I have always been seated happily when I ask for a table or booth if dining alone, so it's a very minor drawback.
I would consider Forest Acres lucky in that given the fact that it's in need of more restaurants of this caliber, this particular spot has prospered and actually reinvested and improved where it needed to. Although I have only met Michelle once, I know of her reputation of being hands-on and an owner/operator that expects her staff to perform and her food to be served to spec....she, and they, hit the mark and have a restaurant that is easy and consistent, two hallmarks of a job well done.
Best In Columbia – Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Columbia is very fortunate to have the Miyo’s restaurants. Locally owned and operated. Owners are always on site.
Quality at a reasonable price.
Best Chinese Restaurants in SC – We are extremely fortunate to have world-class Chinese food in Columbia, South Carolina thanks to Michelle Wang and the Miyo's family of restaurants. Michelle's attention to detail and extraordinary work ethic make all of her restaurants outstanding places to dine. Whether for a nice dinner on a special occasion, a quick lunch, or take-out after a long day at work, Miyo's is consistently excellent.
Terrible service and bad food – I have tried the new Sandhill location twice and used to frequet the Forrest location. The Sandhill service was HORRIBLE and the sushi was...sad...BiLow does better and is cheaper. I also had the garlic chicken - very bland. Other Chinese restaurants in Columbia are much better.
