Attention Teachers and Students - READ THIS – I'd like to applaud the Einstein at MacAuthority who thinks it is a good idea to limit the Educator's Discount only to Belmont and Vanderbilt. I'll set aside the implications of unwitting racist by not offering the discount to predominately African-American schools like TSU or Fisk, but instead I'll simply comment on the obvious effect of this policy that sends business to other retailers.

I bought a MacBook Pro there a year ago and received the Educator's Discount. Today I walked in to purchase another one thinking repeat business was important to a retailer. Despite the fact that nothing has changed in my eligibility, today I was sent packing because I am not affiliated with either Vandy or Belmont. Forget about all the other colleges in the area or the high schools or the elementary schools. If you are a student or faculty member of these schools, you are just plain out of luck. They either think you'll buckle and pay the extra money or they don't care if you scoot out the door and eagerly go to their competitor which is what I did. I drove straight to the Apple store in Green Hills and bought the top of the line MacBook Pro ($2350 with Educator's Discount) and I bought an iPad to boot.

So, once again, to the deep thinker who established this incredibly creative and insightful policy, I think you should write it up and submit it to Brand Week with your explanation of how it is driving sales increases unprecedented for your store.

nicest people ever!!! – My Macbook crashed for the first time; I knew that I would have to get another internal harddrive but I was dreading going because my friend had a hard time with her Macbook at a different store. So I squared my shoulders and prepared myself for a battle. I didn't have insurance because my AppleCare plan ran out like two months ago, so I was wondering how ghastly of a price I would have to pay. I didn't have to make an appointment (a surprise because my friend had to make an appointment at the Mac store she went to) and the person who took care of me was so nice and friendly. Originally, I was told that I would have to pay $200. I was gritting my teeth, trying to figure out how to pay that; the next day I got a phone call from Mac Authority saying that they had called Apple to see if Apple couldn't make an exception and take of this problem as if I had still had my warranty. To my great surprise, Apple agreed and my computer is now in the process of getting fixed for free!!! I didn't expect a free service and I hadn't even asked them to call Apple but they took the initiative to do so! Thank you so much!! If you have Mac problems, you should DEFINITELY go here!!!

So helpful – My Mac Book wouldn't boot up yesterday and so I took it in. I was expecting something major. The tech who checked it in couldn't find the problem immediately. I was called today and it's fixed. They tweaked some software issues and ran diagnostics. The best part, they didn't charge me a dime.

I will alway take my mac there.

IF you know what you want, this is a good place to go... – After doing some research, I knew exactly what I was wanting to purchase. I went in there quite knowledgeable about what I was looking for and told the associate what I wanted. She was incredibly eager to get me everything and even offered some extra assistance on some merchandise. The next time I went in there, I was interested in purchasing some photoshop software, but I was not sure about which suite I should get. The gentleman I spoke with was not helpful, and kind of talked to me like I didn't know what I was talking about. WHICH I DIDN"T! But it would have been nice to get some help. The student discount is what keeps me going back... not the service.

Crappy, CRAPPY Customer Service – I own a Mac and was looking for a Bluetooth mouse. I did some research online and found the RadTech line of mice and really liked what I saw. Rather than wait to get the mouse I decided to see where I might pick it up here in town.

On the list of retailers for their products was MacAuthority...I thought "Cool, I know where that is, I'll stop by one day after work". When I got there I asked about a specific RadTech model. The guy that assisted me, explained that they were out of RadTech mice, but they could order it for me. Being the "I want it know" guy, I asked to see what else they might have. I wanted a rechargeable model, so the guy showed me the MacAlley BTMicro - I decided to get it. I had nothing but problems with it pairing with my Mac (but that's not my problem with MacAuthority).

I decided to take the mouse back and have them order me a RadTech BT600, I figured it might save me on shipping. So, I walk in and explain that the BTMicro didn't work and that my fear about exchanging for another was it might happen again. The guy (old heavy guy with glasses and mustache) didn't give crap..."So, you want a refund?". I explained that I was interested in RadTech products and could he order one. He indicated that he didn't think so, made motions like he was looking it up in his computer. I could tell he wasn't really looking and even if he were he didn't want to do it, he's was lazy sack (my opinion). I was getting more frustrated by the second and I said "I'll just order it online" and he immediately said OK.

I'm tired of being crapped on by people in service oriented positions not giving service...that's why I'm going to religously post my bad (and good) experiences here.
