Does bad work with a bad attitude. – The work was not right. It was expensive. He lectured me when he was hurting me. He made me cry and wouldn't get his hands out of my mouth so that I could respond to his harsh words. I am looking for a new dentist.

Oakes is an ASS! – I went to Dr. Oakes for some fillings. I was told to come back if anything didn't feel right, so i did. He was so offended that i came back he told me to get a second opinion and was very rude and nasty. I left crying and I will never go back. He is not a genuinely nice person, very fake kindness. If you ever go there, don't question his work, he will go off on you and tell you to go somewhere else. But, everyone else there is very nice and friendly.

MAKE SURE YOU GET ANOTHER OPINION!!! – My daughter is now 5-years-old and we took her to the Hermitage location because it was closer to our home and she loved the playful atmosphere of the office. When her baby molars came in she had little holes in them (2 of them). This is an issue that runs in her dad's family (not like cavities caused by plaque or other isues). The dentist suggested silver caps on her baby teeth, which were (according to two other dentists) unnecessary and very visible when she smiled. Now that her baby teeth are loosening and permanent teeth are coming in (she has her bottom front two permanent and has lost her top two) her caps are both very loose, which caused me concern. I took her back to the same office because they were the ones that put the caps in. They quoted me 1,097.00 to sedate her, extract both caps, put in spacers, and take care of a "new" cavity on another baby molar. I was mortified that they would think it "ok" to put a 5-year-old through such trauma. My gut told me this was just not right. I took her to my general dentist who said he did not think this was necessary and that the new cavity could just be filled. He recommended another pediatric dentist (reputable and awesome!!) who looked at the same x-rays and said she did not need those extracted...they would come out on their own, would not need spacers, and only needed a filling on the "new" cavity. He did not charge me for the consultation and only charged me 150.00 total for the work (including sedation). Please make sure that before you fall for the "cap the baby teeth" b.s., that you get at least one more opinion!!! Best of luck to all parents out there. I know I was not aware of such practices.

Horrible experience!!! – Does not surprise me that there is only one good review. Just finished watching a "chomp" commercial and thought that I should update my review of this dentist. This happened when my oldest daughter was around 3 years of age. She had some decay on her front baby tooth and a little on another. "Snod" said that she did not have enamel on her baby teeth and blamed the decay on breast feeding. My wife was outraged to say the least, however we could not help but trust this, our first pediatric dentist.

His recommendation was to grind and cap the effected teeth plus the others around them because they also were showing signs of decay. This was almost all of her teeth... Hindsight,, I should have never trusted him. My daughter ended up with just 4 teeth uncapped!!! Subsequent visits to new and now her current dentist, leaves them shocked and amazed that she had this much work was unnecessary to say the least.

She is now 11 yo,,, still hates "Snod"; mentions it every time we pass his huge house.

I can't warn you enough to stay away from this dentist and agree with all the negative comments already stated...

Beware..

Used Car Salesmen – I agree with sk55's impression. I had a similar experience. My 7 yr old son also fell and bumped his front tooth, and good ol Dr. 'Snod' recommended extraction to me! My wife talked to some of her friends about it, and they said based on their experience with these scenarios, to just wait it out. Well, we did, and his tooth was fine. We didn't need to subject him to the pain and everything else that would go along with an extraction. You'd think a pediatric dentist would know better wouldn't you?

Oh, yes, they can have a slick bed side demeanor, just like a used car salesmen, but when it comes to honesty and integrity, I just didn't see it.

Also, when taking them to get their teeth 'cleaned', they sure don't do a very throrough job. The hygienists are done in about 2 minutes.

Never Again – My 2 year son fell and bumped his front tooth. Several weeks later the tooth started to show signs of darkening. We scheduled an appointment with Dr. Snodgrass at the Cool Springs location. We felt extremely welcome when we entered the building as his waiting area is fantastic and very kid friendly. When it was time to see the doctor, we were taken into a room and waited to be seen. Needless to say, my son was terrified being at the denist as he did not know what was going on. I made sure to try and make it a fun experience for him. Dr. Snodgrass came into the room and with no introduction asked me to put my son in the chair so he could examine the tooth. At this point my son became histerical and the Dr. did nothing to calm my son and kept looking. I picked my son up and at that point he told his assistant to schedule a pulpectomy. He did not offer up to tell me what was going on until I asked. He basically told me this was my only option to avoid an absess and pulling of the tooth. Needless to say, I got two second opinions the next day and BOTH doctors told me it was absolutely unneccessary and would be very tramatic on my son. They both said that the best option was to wait and see if any infection develops and that more than likely my son's tooth was fine and would be there until his permanent tooth arrived. Since the appt. at Snodgrass/King I have learned that they on numerous times have tried selling services that are unnecessary and $$$$. Needless to say I have found a pediatric dentist that has my child's interest at heart and not $$$$.

If you want video games and fun paint colors, this is your place. If you want quality dental care, skip it. – The kids like it (which is important), but the office staff told me I had to call the insurance company on my own to determine what was covered. Additionally, my daughter had xrays in November and they did xrays again in May at which time I questioned a) the need and b) the coverage. I was assured it was necessary and covered but guess what ... NOT. AND although they told me they would call to schedule follow-up work, I never got called. In the end, I've had much better dental care elsewhere and for the prices they charge (above and beyond what is covered by my good insurance), I expect more than a video game and a latte.

Best Kids Dentist in Nashville! – From the moment my children and I walked into this dentist's office, we knew we were in the right place! Not only is the kid-friendly environment great, but the staff really knows how to work with children, most of time bending down or getting on their knees to speak to my children at their level. I was very blessed to have Dr. Snodgrass himself see both my children on their first appointment, and it was very apparent that he loves working with children. He also took the time to answer all my questions. I was very, very impressed, and highly recommend this dentist office.
