Reviews for Rivergate Nails

I needed my nails done in a bad way, so I stopped randomly at this place. I have to say, the staff was SO friendly! Even though it's not the "nicest" salon in the world, I felt comfortable. After reading the past 2 reviews, I have to agree that they are a bit pushy with other services but it IS their job to do so, so I'm not exactly sure why it's made in to being that big of a deal? My nails were in bad shape and I don't think they were done very professionally, but the woman never spoke bad about them, which I find to be very professional. I like that! I had acrylic nails that needed a fill in but was told I needed a new set bc it had been almost 3 months since I had the current one put on. I got gel nails put on and a powder was used. Another client came in and was irate to say the least...saying she was "ripped off" earlier that day, in that there is no such thing as powder gel and that she knew this bc she attended nail tech school for 2 months. She must be a pro, I'm assuming? Why she doesn't do her own nails is beyond me. Big scene caused, but the nail tech handled herself in such a professional manner, trying to explain herself to the woman. I myself Googled "gel powder nails" and in fact, it does exist so why this woman was going on about it not existing is beyond me. I feel so bad for the nail tech now, I almost want to go back in tomorrow and give her an additional tip for having to put up with that moron! Would I say this is the best place I've ever been? No. Would I go back? Yes. Why? Because of the customer service. Because I felt like the nail tech went above and beyond to explain herself, her technique (I ask questions) and she handled herself in such a professional manner when a rude person came at her. I was impressed, not to mention...I really love my nails.

I have never written a review for any place... And I am sorry to say this is a BAD one..... This is by far the worst nail spa experience I have ever had... I went in for gel nail paint,, and was ask numerous times to get other services that I all ready said I had NO time for... After sitting down to start my glorious nail session,,, the older lady ask me to pay before the younger lady painted my nails.. OK I'm fine with that... Pulled a debit card out,, older lady said I'm so sorry I only take cash..??? It's 2013,, Only Cash??!!! So she said you can go to the store next to TJ max buy a water and get cash... So ok I needed my nails done so ,, I got up to go get cash,, and the older lady said can you leave your ID!!! I.D for what services??? For filing my nails are you kidding me!!!! I shouldve left then.... But I went to get cash anyway... The younger girl was very sweet,, but took forever to paint my nails and then I get home,, my paint had already chipped.... And of course it would chip because the bottle she was using she had to scrape the nail polish out of it cause it was almost empty.. She had maybe 6 colors to choose from for the shellac polish... RIDICULOUS!!!! BEWARE.... Save your money for a respectable nail spa like the one in Opry Mills Mall.. Or Mesolite in Hendersonville...

Probably one of the lowest class nail spas I've ever been to - the short version: save your $ and go somewhere else. The Owner/Manager's tech skills are shoddy at best, she's in a huge hurry to get done even when you're the only customer in the store! Failing to apply gel evenly, missing more than 2cm of space at the nail beds, you're going to have to find another tech/store to get her "work" corrected. Not only that, but she's uber pushy about you spending $ on services you're not even interested in - asking you numerous times about more (overpriced) services after you've already politely declined. Spare yourself and go somewhere else. Seriously.
