reall gone downhill – not good .... here is a copy of the note we sent the manager-Mr. Hooper,

My husband and I dined at your restaurant last night after an

important event and were hoping for a wonderful meal as we've

remembered it to be in the past. We were very disappointed in the

food. The appetizers and dinners were sub par. My order of Seafood

Linguine Alfredo did not have half the seafood that it says on the

menu, the two shrimp were rubbery and the other bits of fish tasted

and smelled fishy. The stuffed mushrooms were tasteless and there

seemed to be something missing on the oyster rockefeller's. They

were a slimy, drippy appetizer and not like any we had ever had

before. The entire middle of my husbands Prime Rib was raw and the

outer was cooked to med rare as ordered. He refuses to send food back

so we left it with my meal on the table.

Thankfully our server Kevin took off my dinner and the stuffed

mushrooms. He even offered to buy us desert but by that time we just

wanted to leave.

Not to leave out the drunk sleeping in the next table who only

woke up to eat some food and grope his date. The staff all were aware

of this but happily let it continue.

We paid our tab with a minimum tip but really wonder what

happened to this fine restaurant... This was the absolute worst meal

we have had in quite some time. My Husband was so embarrassed he

offered to take me to a fast food stop if I was still hungry.

Great Food - Great Service – OK - If there is one thing not to do while in Boise, it's eat at a chain restaurant! There are more than enough local places to keep you in the mood to eat. Murphy's is a great choice. The food is great - steaks and seafood. The seafood was absolutely excellent - fresh! Steaks are great cuts and the chef knows how to prepare it to your preference for doneness. Wait staff are quality folks and they will help you in what's best when you are there. The place is a good value for the money, but don't go if you are on a tight budget or are expecting a Paul Bunyon size plate. These dishes are just right for the meal - not too much like some, but not skimpy either. I highly recommend it - we'll go back and take friends next time.

Best Quality in Boise – Murphy's is the Best of Boise. Kevin is awesome. Ask the staff for recommendations and use them. They are experts in what meat is best that day. I highly recommend their halibut, pork shank & chicken. However, I express to check with the wait staff as to what is best that day. At great restaurants, you get what you pay for. If you don't have it to spend, don't pick Murphy's. The highlight of their menu is their calamari. It is a "must have" at each visit. Plan on spending approximately $50/person (excluding wine or alcohol). We eat out a lot. If it is quanity you want, find something else. However, I have never left Murphy's hungry. The service is impecable. However, Murphy's is an experience. You need to have some time. I wouldn't consider them slow. They just accomadate the relaxing ambience.

Over priced upscale car food – The service was very slow. The appetizers were good but the entrees were disappointing. Considering the prices of the entrees, they should have been far superior to what was served.

Don't miss this one! – We got there at a slow time (4 PM) and were two of about six-eight customers. The owner took time to visit with us and tell us about the history of Idaho in general, the restaurant in particular. This, plus great food and service didn't remind me too much of the East Coast.
