Wonderful evening! Great food! – The restaurant is romantic, and quite different in it's decor. Takes you back to the vintage 20's! We loved it! The food was delicious! Our waitress was wonderful and polite! They do serve relatively quick, but don't feel rushed. If you are eating and drinking, just enjoy yourself! The bathrooms are always clean! A lovely place! Cudos to Fernanda and other owners for keeping up with this place for so many years! I've been there several times and never disappointed!
Very Unhappy...... – Cuchi Cuchi was reccomended by a dear friend who spoke highly of the resturant..
We 12 of us went for a holiday party we made reservation a week prior even thou they do not except reservation since the Manager knew my friend they excepted the reservation... However we arrived 30 mins early had a few very costly drinks and then found out our table was given to another group of people. To that we had to wait another hour. They did nothing to make any of us happy, and the service was extremely fast. To the point we were rushed out.
The only thing I can say is the food was very good, and the bathrooms were clean..
An evening full of dissappointments – Horrible service! I have been to some nice places in Boston and around the world but have never been treated this rudely before. We tried to surprise a friend with a little party but Cuchi Cuchi surprised us with an evening full of disappointments.
They did not take reservations (but looking at their book they do!). My friend had been calling all week to get reservations and they refused, but I glanced at their seating book and they were taking reservations for small parties. Perhaps they just discriminate against large parties 5+ or maybe they cater to their regulars, I don’t know…but it is a shady practice. We tried to get a smaller table and that is when the fun began. We were moved 4 times!!!!! We arrived before 7pm, were given a long story about how they could not seat us, were told to wait at the bar, once the bar got full, were conveniently moved to a small table, then the couch in corner, and 2 hours later the table in the back was opened so they moved us again!!!! It was ridiculous; I have never been treated like that. If it were not for my friend’s celebration, I would have walked out. I was with many international friends who did not understand what was going on, some even felt they were being discriminated against.
The food was overpriced. For all of our troubles they gave us nothing! You pay for the bread, and everything. They recommend that you order two plates to equal a full meal. I had the baby back ribs, nothing special about them; I can get better ribs at KO Prime. They rushed us through the meal; before you were done eating they took the plates.
Only bonus, you get to keep your coaster…they don’t advertise only word of mouth. Unless you want to be treated rudely, I would stay away. I will never go back there!!
Sangria and Indulgence – We had the sangria, the duck pate, the brie en croute, the tuna tartare.. MMMM! Their signature drink menu was ASTOUNDING. Will definitely go back but watch out--it gets pricy quickly! Bring a bunch of girlfriends and you're going to have a fantastic time. I've heard about a light up table but I got to hang out on the oldschool couches with oversized pillows. I'm still thinking about the munchy food. If you order the brie, ask for double toast :)
Eclectic but awesome – This food was fantastic. I didn't go here with stellar expectations, I think b/c I couldn't quite make sense of the menu. I came here for my friend's bday. 5 of us, 2 vegetarians. We ordered the Asian salad (crunchy, very fresh tasting, lots of mint), Grilled Eggplant Napoleon (faaabulous, eggplant layered with goat cheese and onions, delicious), Insalata di Liquria (nice mix of endive, gorgonzola and chestnut honey), Gratin Dauphinois (potato gratin, not too heavy/cheesy, delicious), Mushroom Risotto (very good, drizzled with truffle oil). The meat eaters also enjoyed the Sizzling Garlic Shrimp and the Cuban Cigar- which came with a tasty black bean salsa. Dessert was Cheesecake and Tartufo. Cheesecake was small but excellent. Tartufo was good. Came with strawberry (meh), pistachio and mexican chocolate ice cream. The staff could not have been kinder. From seating us well before our reservation time, as we were early, to triple checking for gluten content, to making a fabulous birthday presentation, they completed a delicious and very enjoyable evening. The decor is awesome as well.
An Underated Jewel of a Restaurant – By now, most of you know (or otherwise should) that Dali remains the best place to go when you want both delicious, authentic Spanish Tapas and a warm, romantic setting. Yet it seems that Dali's cousin, Cuchi Cuchi in Cambridge, is still the oft forgotten stepchild.
Not only does C.C. have a one of the most diverse, share-worthy menus of international, "straight-up" small dishes in town, it flaunts a wine and cocktail list that will make your head spin (uhh...literally. I speak from experience). Add to this an incredibly eclectic decor (collectibles, costumes and one-of-a-kind objets d'art from floor to ceiling), plus a playful, bejeweled and bedecked waitstaff, and you'll find one of the most unique restaurants this city has to offer.
I've had dinner and/or drinks there--with a date, a few friends or larger groups--more times than I can count and I've always had a great time and a satisfied palette. It's also only one of the few places in this still-so-conservative city where you'll feel just as much at home in jeans as you might wearing a gown or a tux.
The downside is that the place is a bit small and the gets really packed. Especially later in the week, so is sometimes a bit daunting. After a cocktail (or two) you probably wont notice, though.
Oh...and dont forget to wear your feather boa.
Wonderfully delicious small plates in a romantic setting.
Great food, unique dining experience – I had dinner at Cuchi Cuchi for the first time last night. I found the food to be delicious (the Mexican Deep-Fried Tomato and Eggplant Napoleon were my favorite), the ambiance was great for a Saturday night, but the service was definitely hit-or-miss. Maybe the servers feel that the gimmick should make up for not being as attentive, but our waitress was very flippant and seemed annoyed when we didn't order as much as she thought we should. These tapas are very heavy! We ordered five for 4 people and that was plenty (they recommend 2.5 per person). She then gave us the wrong bill at the end of the night, with no apology for almost charging us 3 times as much. The bottom line is that this place is great for dinner if you want good food, a neat atmosphere, and don't mind average service for the night.
Overpriced, pretentious, poor service – This is the place to go. If you like pretentious, expensive and poor service that is. They cram too many people into the place. The food is good-looking and apparently made with good ingredients, but it is poorly prepared so despite the expensive ingredients, the food experience is only so-so (in terms of value for your money, it is horrible). When you leave they will charge your credit card another 20% on top of the 18% you already paid them. They claim the extra 20% is to make sure that your account can cover the meal (maybe they have a point with those prices). Oh, and don't bring along a friend who isn't having more than a salad. They require each person to eat for at $20. Right across the street, you'll find one of the best restaurants in town. That place isn't trying to be trendy. But you get three times the food quality for 70% of the price."
Cuchi Cuchi Experience – On Sat. I had planned to have a wonderful evening at Cuchi Cuchi for my husband's birthday. This did not happen. I'm quite disappointed at what happened and the lack of response from management.
I discovered Cuchi Cuchi with friends a few weeks ago, and was captured by the ambiance that night.
Sat. night was completely the opposite, if it was my 1st visit, it surely would have been my last! We arrived at 7:30pm and were told the wait was an hr. All evening long we watched people who came in after us be seated... we inquired with your hostesses thru out the evening the status for our party. We were told 'just another 20 minutes' after 1 hr. After 2 hrs we were told we were the next four top... and we were given bar snacks and a basket of bread. After 2 hrs and 15 mins, we watched another party of 4 who came in 1 hr after us be seated & give the 'okay' sign to the hostess....
3 hours and 8 minutes later at 10:38pm at last we were seated. We ordered 10 different items from the menu, drinks from the bar, and we were rushed by 11:15 to order whatever else we may want because alas the kitchen was closing... we ordered drinks, cappuccino's, birthday dessert & song for our table. At 12:06, Valet was bringing my car up. Imagine that, a 3 hr and 8 min. wait for 1 hr and 28 mins of what was supposed to be a wonderful birthday evening for my husband. It was ruined, far from wonderful & completely disappointing. The waitress Melissa was quite charming and was the best part of the evening... she was the only one who cared and tried to make up for what happened.
Not an owner, or a manager took the time to care or to come apologize for the inconvenience and the mismanagement from your hostess station. Cuchi Cuchi may be a beautiful place but I am completely disappointed in the less than adequate wait and treatment we received on Sat, March 15th
