Mediocre, uninspired pizza, but the bottled beers are awesome – I'm writing about the newest Parlor location on 43rd and Guadalupe. The pool tables are a nice touch, but the pizza is very blah. Too much dough, skimpy toppings and a killer price add up to a neighborhood pizza place that is better for drinking than eating. They have liquor and beers both in bottles and on tap, two pool tables and wi-fi, maybe that's why I rarely see people eating but rather surfing the internet. The staff is snippy and rarely smile, the pizza is mainly dough with a handful of cheese and a sprinkle of toppings. Enjoy!
Worst pizza I've ever had. – The pizza crust was doughey and bland. Too think for my tastes. The dining area is too dark and the service was non-existant. This place is not recommended.
the goods dont come cheap unless you steal 'em – This place is the coolest pizza joint, hands down. And if people cant handle the attitude( ie "beat scholar", first, learn to spell attitude). Maybe dont go. Just kidding, these guys are awesome!! Also, youre getting CHEESE ON your pizza(scholar). Ive been there plenty, and its somewhat a selfserve environment. There is no "waitstaff", just a few hardworking people to get you beer and pizza out in a timely fashion. This place rocks. Sexiest "waitstaff"(seriously), rocknroll atmosphere. All around some of the best food and the most interesting crowd(including the staff....HaHa!!) Great job, incredible pizza. Thanks for keeping something real alive. The weak at heart maybe should stay away.
best pizza in town – best pizza i've ever had in austin tx! at first i thought that it was a little price, but then i realized this wasn't a 3 or even 2 piece kind of pizza. the crust was thick but stil crispy and just right for the generous and delicious toppings. this is the only pizza for me from now on. as for the review of the people complaining about the service after they had been closed for 25 minutes-- at least you still got served the best pizza in austin after being closed for 25 minutes.
Very Poor Service – a poor experience all around. The first night we were not offered cheese, forks, or napkins. Never asked how we were doing once. The second night after the kitchen is closed, rather than apologise the wait staff executes poor service by saying "25 min ago woulda been a good time to look at that" when approached about it being poor service they had a "too bad" attitutede. Overall, not a good experience, and the pizza was nothing to rave about.
home away from yuppies – the sauce and dough used in the pizza's are original home recipies, which of course is a huge plus. the place scares off the meek, who fear the friendly-yet-unusual-types. free of college kids just looking to get drunk.
Tasty Pizza and Good Brews – If you enjoy high quality pizza rather than the cardboard mediocrity of pizza chains, this is the place for you! Plenty of fresh ingredients to choose from (soy cheese as well) and homemade sauce. May seem a little pricey, but great value! I love getting the French bread pizza when I am out alone, or a large (and filling) pizza with friends.
This is more of a neighborhood bar, that serves pizza, so don't expect a "dining" experience.
