Delicious! Great sushi and awesome atmosphere. A little on the higher priced side of things, but entirely worth it. Grab a group of some good friends and get yourself some fantastic sushi here and most likely good times will be had by all.
BEST SUSHI EVER. I became addicted to Shiro a few months ago. I go at least twice a week and each time I try something different. I have yet to have anything that wasn't AWESOME. Great people, excellent atmosphere and service. I saw that some gave this place a bad review? Running out of water? Really? Never happened to me. Always clean, professional and DELICIOUS! It's a MUST GO if you love sushi and/or sashimi. You won't regret it!
Best meal we've had in years!. My husband and I have deemed Shiro an "Oh my GOD!" restaurant. We live less than 2 miles from Shiro yet we'd never been there until they appeared on restaurant.c*m (great website - the owner is smart to participate!) We had calamari, the "Dynamite-Must Try" appetizer, (can't say r**k) of lamb, and black sesame seed seared tuna. Best calamari we've ever had, and we ALWAYS order calamari everywhere! It would take pages for me to describe how great everything was!
I love it. I have had sushi all over the world and this food makes the top 3. The wine is good but the bartender (Marsha) and Jennie along with the rest of the staff will make any evening enjoyable. I insist on taking all my business guests here as I know they will find something they will love.
Perfect Combination of French and Japanese Cuisine!. A Perfect combination of great cooked dishes and Sushi. We've been to almost every japanese restaurants in town and i think it's the BEST choice in the area !!! friendly staff does its best to keep up with diners' demands. Great wine lists, very well fusioned French and Japanese. We had Lobster dinner special and sushi rolls for our dinner. Prompt service and really excellent atmosphere. we will definitely go there Again!! Highly reccomended !!!
Amazing restaurant. Me and a couple of my friends went there for dinner. A really attractive receptionist showed us around the house. (Which is rumored to be haunted), and we sat in a nice corner downstairs. The food was amazing. The sushi rolls were unlike any other japanese restaurants, and even the miso soup was flavorful. We had alright service, the waiter was pretty slow and several times we ran out of water. But the amazing food made up for it. I'll tell you one thing, I am definitely going back...again.
Great sushi and great atmosphere!. We went here for sushi based on reviews here. We were not disappointed. I went with a guest who eats sushi all over the country. He said this is among the best he has eaten. After ordering a few rolls off the menu we let the chef get as creative as he wanted. If you are adventurous I would recommend doing this. The dishes were creative and wonderful. The atmosphere was truly unique. You don't expect a sushi bar in an old house!
Excellent sushi.
We were in town on business and had a craving for some really good sushi. We were referred to Shiro by someone from the area so we figured it was worth a shot. The sushi is really fresh and super high-quality. I was also pleasantly surprized by the prices which seemed very reasonable.
We paid about $75 and each ordered two appetizers, two traditional rolls and two drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend the Wasabi Shumai and the Red Dragon roll (spicy tuna & tempura shrimp). If you are not sure what you want let the friendly waitress (our receipt indicates her name was Jennie) guide you through the menu. Tell her what you like and she'll make sure you are prepared something that will have you coming back for more.
Needless to say I will be frequenting Shiro each of times that I am in the area each year. WHAT A GREAT FIND!
Go to this place for the atmosphere. The lamb was wonderful and on sale that night, we were charged the menu price which amounts to over $8 dollar overcharge. The waitress didn't keep our water glasses full and the cooks filled up our water glasses. I believe the person who filled up the glasses was the owner. We did not request a refund, my husband was too upset and has health issues. The building is wonderful but the bathrooms need to be cleaned up and redone. The desert was awful, it was carmel custard and was grainey.
Opposites attract as Japanese and French cuisine meld seamlessly in the distinctive setting of a 1930's Greek revival mansion..
In Short
Cozy fireplaces lend an air of comfort to this mansion-turned-restaurant, and a truly magnificent center stairway leads upstairs, where former bedrooms have been transformed into intimate dining spaces. The menu features Japanese and French fare, with a twist (steamed wasabi flavored dumplings; foie gras with raspberry demi-glace and fresh berries over wilted greens). For a quick lunch or after-work bite, settle in at the well appointed sushi and sashimi bar. The sake list is also extensive.
