Average is a good description. This is a fine place to grab lunch, but you have to know what to order. The Naan is good, as is the lassi and chicken mahkni. I don't believe that it is better than Priya though.
A gamble for lunch; Convenient location in Southfield; below average. I try Rucci a few times a year due to the close location, and most of the time I am disappointed. It truly is a gamble. The variety on the lunch buffet was sparse compared to other buffetts that have multiple desserts, appetizers/salad/vegetables, etc. Also, many of the items ran out - most notably, the naan was out for a while - others were old and not replaced with fresh. The only thing I enjoyed was the Chicken Tikka. From service standpoint, very disappointed....no one came to ask if I wanted something to drink besides water (chai, coke, etc.) or if I wanted to order something from the menu. Also, no one gives you a bill; you are expected to know you have to go up to the front counter and pay - again, no bill even when you go up to pay. Overall, a bad experience and certainly not somewhere I would take anyone.
Good food but unclean..
This is a tough place to review. The food was good. The naan was excellent, as were the mint dipping sauce.
Our dinners were also good but they used dark meat for the chicken where the exact same dish at any other Indian place is white meat.
It was fatty and had some rind in it but the flavor was excellent.
However after sitting we started to notice things. The carpet was torn in spots, dirt and marks on the walls. The salt in the shakers at every table were crusty and yellow. We noticed something floating in our carafe of water.
We inspected our plates and silverware and they looked clean but our experience was already tainted by the uncleanliness of the surroundings.
The most disappointing was when we got the bill. We too went there because of the Entertainment book. Our meals before discount came to $31. The discount brought it back down to $20. It was just my wife and I but the waiter decided to put a tip on the bill for us. He put 15 percent, we almost always tip 20.
For 2 people putting the tip on the bill leaves a bad taste in my mouth and considering the condition of the interior that was enough for us. We paid the bill and left.
A little bit of paint and some carpet it would be a nice place but if thats how the dining room was presented makes you wonder about the kitchen.
We scored it a 4 because although the food was good you shouldn't have to wonder about the cleanliness of the place you just ate.
I probably don't like Indian Food. The restaurant was very simple, the people were friendly, and the service was adequate. I didn't enjoy the experience. I guess I just don't like Indian Flavors and Sauces.
Terrific food at great prices.
We found Ruchi due to a coupon in the Entertainment book. I doubt we ever would have noticed the restaurant otherwise, as it's tucked away in the "Guitar Center" shopping plaza. Three of us went to dinner (two people who really enjoy Indian food, and one person who LOVES Indian food), and we were consistently impressed by every item we ordered.
The food is very well prepared, quite delicious, and generous. From the garlic naan (which had a LOT of garlic) through several main dishes and the mango lassi drinks, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We all agreed it was better than our two other favorite Indian restaurants in the area, Priya and House of India. There is plenty of seating room, a large room (where a group was having a private party), and the staff was quite attentive.
Constitant quality.
Nothing fancy but the key is good food, try manchurain dishes.
Service is good, except for long preperation time.
Owners are presnt inside for any quiries...That makes a diffrence
My Review. Great Food...service...Try their lunch buffet...they serve with chicken tandoor which i freshly cooked and served steaming..onion pakoda is awesome...deserts are very goood... best of food i had in recent times...the owner is doing great job maintaining the quality...
Excellent. Nice atmosphere, the best indian food I have tasted across US. Service is very friendly, and the menu is defnitely not over priced.
