I've lived in a Pergola managed building for about 10 months now. The management has been responsive and helpful when I've reported issues. The grounds are consistently kept clean, and my maintenance requests have been addressed quickly. My primary contact point with management is Darcy, the building manager. She's very easy to work with, remembers tenants' names, and helps find ways for tenants to adapt to changing life circumstances (like moving between Pergola apartments without breaking a lease).
absolutely awful! as in many of the other reviews of Pergola, upon purchasing the building I'd been living in for 2 years, I was contacted by Brian to let me know my rent would be doubled if I chose to remain in my apartment. One by one, every single tenant in the building moved out (one lady had been living here for over 20 years!) and with each move, a rag-tag band of painters, carpenters and misc handy-men moved in and from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm it was nothing but band saws, hammers and loud music being played by the workers...all this accompanied by the smell of paint and sawdust. If this wasn't bad enough, the workers constantly parked in front of the garage, effectively blocking me in and when I started parking outside, they began using my parking stall for storing misc equipment and appliances they had removed from the other apartments! When i asked Darcy if she could do something about this, her response was that "we don't control the workers, they don't work for us," then who exactly DO they work for? It was one battle after another with the so-called management team, they were far more concerned with getting the apartments rented out to new tenants than they were with providing even the smallest courtesy and/or service to the existing tenants. These people are not professional, not helpful, only friendly in as much as it will get them something in return and have one and only once concern, making as much money as they possibly can while expending the bare minimum that's legally required. Don't rent from them!!
I'm so sad to see the negativity words associated with Pergola Management. I have lived in one of their buildings for three years. They upgrade the main living/common areas both indoors and outdoors as well as our aprtments. Why is that a bad things? They did not ask my permission, if they did why would I say no? Investing money in a building is not making a quick buck. They are always available for helping me with anything I need including changing my light bulbs, air conditioner instalation, feeding my cats if I go home, clearing the snow, cleaning the halls. My apartment and the building is adorable. I am so happy and thankful for them.
I've been renting from them since the beginning of August (when I started school at St. Thomas). The help is been nothing less than extraordinary. I do plan on living there until I graduate school (Spring 2015).
These guys are on their game. I was sold as soon as I drove past the property. The landscaping is well kept. Then when I went inside the apartment felt like home. I’m all for living in a nice place where I can walk to a beer or a good cup a java.
This management company seems like they are only out for money, and will gladly lower the quality of life for its tenants as long as they think they can make a quick buck by doing so.
Since buying my building 2 months ago, this company has:
1. Had loud construction going on in the building almost everyday (with no notice).
2. Turned off the hot water for over 24 hour period (no notice).
3. Turned off the water entirely for several hours (a maintenance guy came to my door and gave me 5 minute notice).
4. Changed all the building doors one day, causing residents' keys to stop working (of course, no advance notice). I was given a new key a couple hours after I called to complain about suddenly not having access to the building--a key that DIDN'T WORK. I had to wait another couple hours for ANOTHER key that DID work.
5. Ripped out a large lovely yard (including 40+ ft trees) residents had put their own time and money into (no notice).
6. And with all of this going on, actually RAISED my rent by 12%!
The maintenance crews have responded to problems I have called about, but the lack of notice about any changes or work being done to the building is unsettling. It seems like everyday I wake up to a new, unwanted surprise.
I'm moving out at the end of the month and would not rent from this company again.
Love my new apartment. Looked at a million different apartments and rented from Pergola Management. The building is clean and quiet. The leasing person was very helpful and low pressure. Happy with my decision....now if only someone will unpack all of my boxes for me!
Have had nothing but good luck with the office staff and maintenance people at Pergola Management. I have lived in one of their properties four years ago and just moved back into town and am renting in a different building from them now. Same staff as four years ago which is nice since I feel like I am back at home with them. They have always gone out of their way to treat me right.
I have been renting with Pergola now for almost 3 years and its great. Brian, Darcy and the rest of the people that work for Pergola care about what they do. I have never had a problem with things getting fixed or dealt with in a timely manner.
We have been living in a Pergola managed property for the last 8 months or so, and there is not a single bad thing I can say about this company. No matter what went wrong in the apartment, the maintenance staff was able to come right away and get it fixed. Management was extremely accomodating in all of our needs and requests, and is very friendly too!
