I have driven to the suburbs - the SUBURBS - for this authentic deli. The New Yorker in me just needed something real.

VERY UNPLEASANT – I grew up on the north shore moved to New York 5 years ago –My sister suggested we dine at max & Benny, which use TO BE OUR FAVORITE DELI on the NORTH SHORE. What a DISAPPOINTMENT.

The table- menu’s –water glasses –booth & floor was filthy dirty we got up and walked out!

I cannot believe this restaurant has not been condemned by the health department –which I am calling first thing tomorrow!

Terrible customer service – Food is good, but customer service horrible. I went there recently with my family for my anniversary. The bill was over $100.00. My wife had a coupon for $25.00 which I discovered when I presented it had expired 4 days prior. Despite being a resident of Highland Park and a long time customer, the person in charge REFUSED to honor it saying it had expired. True, but I felt that losing me as a customer was certainly not worth $25.00. I would rather go back to a restaurant where someone is appreciative of my business.

Great veal breast – Here's a place for good, solid Jewish deli. Very good soups and sandwiches. The stuffed veal breast was done just right and seasoned perfectly, but the stuffing was nothing to write home about. The deli fried matza with lots of corned beef, salami, onions was a real treat. Family friendly. Parking is good, although the lot can get crowded at times. We've never had to wait too long for a table. If you like Jewish deli style food, definitely check this place out.

Great Corn Beef on Rye and Matzo Ball Soup – Love the food. A little noisy at times. Children not always controlled by parents.

Do try their Chocolate Soda NY style

Jewish deli with a diner atmosphere – Despite the editors' comments, I've never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes for a table - the bigger challenge may be finding a parking spot on the weekend, despite the large lot. Max & Benny's does the "Jewish deli" very well, but nothing else about the menu is remarkable. The decor is low-end and dated and the service is simply average. If you're in the area and have a hankering for a pastrami, stop in. Otherwise, don't feel like you're missing out on anything.

Bustling, full-service restaurant and bakery serves up big portions of deli favorites to an all-ages crowd. – In Short
Expect a wait at this divided diner and deli, where specialty meats, fish and baked goods tempt as in the front display cases. In the dining room, comfortable booths and tables accommodate large groups of loyal regulars. Breakfast includes typical offerings along with some surprises like fried matzo with salami. Fish platters are made for sharing, and brilliant borscht is too pretty to pass up. Don't miss the hot pastrami sandwich on rye (available extra-lean), topped with signature mustard.

Thumbs Up from an East Coaster – My family is from the NYC/NJ area, so you could probably guess that I'm pretty picky when it comes to Jewish deli fare. Having arrived in Chicago under the typical East Coast bias that good Jewish food just doesn't exist out here, I was more than pleasantly surprised at the quality of the cuisine at Max & Benny's. This is the real thing, youseguys, so whether you're an East Coast transplant, a Chicago lifer, or someone from a place where Jewish delis don't exist at all, you need to swing by this suburban deli for some authentic bagels or bialys!
