finaly a fixed car.
I have had a crazy coolant leak even the dealer couldn't find.
They found it and repaired it I haven't had any problem's since.
It was a intake manifold leak
yes it was expensive but so was my car
My thank's to Ken and the crew
MIDAS employees are fraudulent..
Like most other reviewers, I was not only ripped off at Midas in Bellevue, but it bordered on fraud.
I read some of the bad reviews on this site before going, which is why I was very skeptical when the manager told me I need all new brakes AND new brake calipers for over $1,000. I asked how much of the brake pad was left, and was told 1/18th of an inch on all of them. I had them start work on the car, then when I returned asked to see the brake pads which had at least 50% useable life left.
Several calls to Midas have so far gone un-returned, so I'm going to be filing a complaint with AAA today.
I'm used to having repair shops like this try to take advantage of me (unfortunately, it's the nature of the business), but I rarely have a nationwide chain STRAIGHT OUT LIE to me, which is technically FRAUD.
STAY FAR AWAY FROM MIDAS!
DO NOT GO HERE!!!!.
DO NOT go to this Factoria Midas!!!!!! I can't stress this enough! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
I went into the Factoria location for the first time to get an oil change - the location was convenient. The guy at the front desk showed me (in a condescending way) the form that they use for the Courtesy Check and explained that as part of the oil change package, they also rotate tires, do a visual brake check, and inspect the battery, air filter, fluid, belts and hoses. Just 5-10 minutes after dropping off the car, they called and said that I needed to replace the radiator cap (it was broken), flush the coolant system, and clean/adjust/resurface the 2 rear brake drums. I came in for a $35 oil change package, and now was quoted services/labor of $300!!!! Okay... so are these add-on services really needed?
Decision: My boyfriend and I decided to just go with the oil change and radiator cap replacement (those didn't cost much) and we held off on the drums and coolant.
Horrible part #1: Just before picking up our car, a customer, who had just picked up her car returned. She had just left the Midas parking lot and noticed her car driving a bit strange. As she was returning to Midas, her TIRE FELL OFF and her car was stuck IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD!!! Seriously she is lucky that this situation wasn't any worse....
After collecting our car, we went straight to the Issaquah Midas (been to this one several times before and have loved the service - excellent customer service!!!!) and asked them to verify Factoria's work and recommendations.
Issaquah Midas looked thru all the documents/receipts that Factoria gave me, and noticed Factoria failed to give me a copy of the Courtesy Check results. This copy would've documented the results of their inspection, including the pH levels of the coolant which would determine if a flush is needed. So Issaquah Midas kindly did the pH test for us and it came back NORMAL! COOLANT DOES NOT NEED FLUSHING!!!! Drums were just fine too. So that says it all...
Horrible part 2: Factoria Midas tried to charge us for services that were not necessary!!!! On top of that they failed to provide standard documentation to their clients - that way there's nothing to disprove recommended services!!!!! And... they are just rude!!!!
Go to Issaquah Midas!!!!! Great people and great service there!!!!! Issaquah, Bellevue, Kirkland, Bothel and Ballard are all owned by the same guy.
The Factoria location and locations south are all owned by another owner.
They told me that I had a damaged part to my car and gave me an estimate which was $600.00 more than my regular mechanic said it would cost, based on Midas' diagnosis. My mechanic inspected the car and said that there was nothing wrong with the part! This repair would have cost me close to $2000. and no part was broken!
A previous time I went there they didn't align my steering wheel when they did an alignment. When I asked them to fix it, they first stated that they normally charge to re-do the alignment, but that as a favor to me they would re-do the work at no charge, when they didn't do it right in the first place!
I went here because it was local, but never again. Stay away!
well looks like im the only person writes positives review about this place.
usually i change my oil there, the thing i like is; people are friendly, and they do good job. Last time we took my friends car therefor brake inspection, prices were not so different than other places..
just i want to say; only sad customers write comments here, im the 6th person writes review here, i believe they have more than 6 customer... and i wanted to do my mission as a happy customer, write something...
i have good experience about this place.
Don't EVER trust these crooks. So I took my car in for a brake job. I had read terrible reviews on these guys, and heard bad things about them from my friends, but they were conveniently right next to my work, so I decided to take it in for a new brake job. I did my homework online the night before, so I would have an idea of what it would cost. They called me back and quoted me $1000 (when it should have been about $400). I asked him if there was any way of making it lower, and he said that he would give me the "military discount" even though I was never in the military. This made it $25 cheaper. I then called Les Schwab and they laughed at me when I told them what Midas quoted me. They said that they would do EVERYTHING for $425. I called Midas back and told them to give me my truck back, and then he said that he would do it for $425. ALL OF A SUDDEN they are willing to cut the price in HALF as soon as I threaten to take it elsewhere. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE OR YOU WILL BE SORRY
Stay away at all costs or it will cost you!.
The following events took place between 9:00am and 4:00pm on August 9th 2008.
I chose the Factoria Midas location because of the advertising (i.e. trust the midas touch), ability to correctly do the required work on short notice, and the proximity of the store's location.
I explained i probably needed a complete brake job, oil change, and an ignition tune up done on a 1997 Volkswagen Jetta so i could have the emissions checked prior to registration. The sales rep. said this was possible, however, he DID NOT TELL ME that if i had my emissions checked first and failed and later spent $150.00 or more at an authorized dealer (which Midas is) that they could write me a waiver. I found this out from another customer who had just failed her emissions test.
After the initial check Factoria Midas quoted me at over $2,000 dollars for brakes front and back, fuel ignition tune up, and oil change. Plus a couple repairs that sounded false, which i did not agree to (various gaskets) . I explained that the price sounded very high and my quote immediately dropped to $1,400 for everything. Double labor was quoted repeatedly on both front and rear brake jobs and plug wires alone were priced at $225 dollars. I then called a trusted mechanic in Boise Idaho to check the prices and labor costs. I confronted said sales rep. again on his quoted prices and my overall quote dropped to a little over $1,100, which is a decent price. I agreed to authorize the work to be done.
When services were completed on the car, the E-Brake suddenly actually needed to be tightened for another $125.00. The E-brake worked fine when i brought it in prior to service and wasn't even quoted on the initial check of the vehicle.
Beware!!! Bunch of Thiefs and Liars.
So I got lured by the Midas touch and convenient location, and paid dearly for it!
I had a small issue on the car which required a simple tune up, and that is what they did, in the end. However they charged me at first over 600 for something else, that didn't even fix the problem and they give me the car saying it is fine. I just started it, drove a block and brought it back. So I looked up what they charged me for, and noticed that they overcharge more than 100% on parts (vs. retail) and wanted to resolve the charge, especially since nothing was fixed. After much complaining, they showed me a new bill with lower amount that looked a little bit more realistic, and said they can do the tuneup in 15 to 30 minutes. Sounded good. However, things were different. When I look at my statement week later, I see both charges and when I call the manager, he doesn't care to even listen and starts yelling.
"Midas - give all your money to us!"
By the way, their Better Business Buiro rating is terrible and I am disputing the charge and posting everywhere possible.
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Well-known chain offers maintenance and repair for cars and trucks including brakes, oil changes, batteries, exhaust, climate control, radiator flushes and more.
Good at fixing cars, but too expensive.
First the positives: these guys fixed a problem with my Toyota 4Runner that two other shops could not. And their lifetime oil change program is a great deal. But....
their prices for basic services are very high, and they always seem to find something wrong with my car that they "strongly" suggest taking care of. After hearing the quote, I nearly always say NO. I would actually like to give these guys more of my business, but they price themselves out of work every time.
