where to begin... i went into Belles of Elegance to order a Maggie Sottaro dress... I was told that they have a lot of "hassels" and that dresses take a long time when ordering from Maggie Sottaro.. I found a dress that was very similiar to the dress that i fell in love with.. I paid in full when ordering.. about 7 months later (19 days before my wedding) i received a phone call from Mary the manager, and was told that there was a lack of communication, and my DRESS WAS NEVER ORDERED. Mary did offer to pay for any alterations as they had my dress in stock but it was a size 16 ( i ordered a size 6).. i was very unhappy with the overall alternations as the dress was still to big on the day of my wedding. PLEASE STAY AWAY... dont let Belles of Elegance ruin your wedding
Where do I begin? – Well first off, they were way off when it came to telling me what size to order in my bridesmaid dress. Luckily I didn't listen to them and ordered what made the most sense, and I'm glad I did because it was STILL too big. One of the other bridesmaids wasn't so lucky...she ordered the size they told her to, which made no sense because her and I are basically the same size and they told her to get a size 10, and I ordered a size 2. So, she of course had to get it majorly altered, and used the Belles of Elegance seamstress, and ended up paying them a ton (well over $100) to have it altered twice. I suppose that nicely benefited the store, so they were happy.
My husband also stood up in the wedding and rented his tux through them. Belles of Elegance does not have their own tuxes to rent out, they basically rent them from DuBois and then turn around and rent it out to you, but charge you more than DuBois would if you just went directly to them. He went in and got measured for the tux, which was totally pointless because when he went to pick it up the day before the wedding, it was way off. The neck was way too tight, and the sleeves on the coat were too long. So, they said they would alter the sleeves and have it ready for him the next day. Well, he went to put on the coat the day of the wedding, and they had only hemmed up ONE SLEEVE, and it was way too short, literally 4 inches above his wrist. So basically, it looked like they somehow hemmed the same sleeve twice. I'm assuming someone hemmed one sleeve, got distracted, and then just went back and hemmed that same sleeve again, never touching the other one. So one sleeve was a good 4 inches longer than the other and he had to rip out the shorter seam just to get them to match, and then just deal with the sleeves being a little too long. On top of that, when he had originally gotten measured, they had him try on a pair of the rental shoes and decide what size he was, and they wrote it down. Again, don't know why they bothered acting like they cared because when he went to pick up the tux, they handed him the wrong sized shoes, and when he mentioned it, they brushed him off and said they didn't have any shoes in his size. And just to make things even better, the shoes they gave him smelled so awful--horribly stinky feet smell--so obviously no one cleaned them. Maybe that's on DuBois, but disgusting nonetheless.
And for the icing on the cake, the paperwork just said the tux was due back the Monday after the wedding, so he planned on bringing it back after work since they don't open on Mondays until 10 am. On his way over, he got a call from the store reminding him it's due back and he said, yes I'm on my way over. Then she told him that it had been due back at 2pm because they need to get the tuxes back to DuBois ASAP. I'm sorry but what person is able to get a tux back between 10-2 on a Monday (they aren't open Sundays). Apparently there is a "late fee" for not getting it back before 2pm, even though it says NOTHING about this in the paperwork they give you, and they never mentioned this before. Unfortunately this is pretty much the worst service we've ever had at a bridal store. Obviously not much has changed since a few years ago when we got married--I walked in one day to check the store out and was asked right away if I had an appointment, and when I said no I was made to feel like I was totally inconveniencing them. I was basically told I needed an appointment to shop, and couldn't look around.
Lot of selection, but dated – Store has alot of wedding dresses, but the majority are very dated. Their website has links to current designers, but I saw very few dresses that looked like any of those in the store.
Consultant was very knowledge, but kind of pushy and not really listening.
If you want a dress that looks more recent than the 1990's, go somewhere else.
(I wasn't looking for bridesmaid dresses, but those all seemed to be pretty current styles)
Stay Away – Future Brides stay away! Brides who have already purchased your gown, make sure if you ordered it NEW, that it actually is!
Horrible Service – Stay away from this place! when I first went into this store everything was great everyone was very friendly and acted like they new what they were doing. When i went back in the second time to finally purchase my dress is when everything went wrong. They ordered my dress 2 sizes to big so they could charge extra for all the alterations that had to be done. But they had given me a coupon for some money off of cleaning so I thought I would give them a second chance.I took it back for cleaning. and 12 weeks later I don't have my dress back and they can't find it.
Fabulous Customer Service – We were incredibly impressed the service we received, experienced and knowledgable. As I am raising a number of girls, this will be the first place we stop for prom in the future and in a decade or so I'm sure for wedding gowns also!
Wonderful Staff and Beautiful Dresses – After going to several bridal shops I would recommend this one to anyone looking for a wedding dress. The staff are friendly - they fit me in without an appointment (which was great!) They even found dresses for me that I had not seen, based on some things that I was looking for. I did not like that all of their dresses came in one size, and they had to use clamps to close them on me, but that is pretty common at most boutiques. I really liked this store, lots of brands, styles etc. - not even comparable to some down in the valley.
Great service, friendly staff, not a huge selection in store. – I am surprised people gave such negative ratings of Belles when they admit they did not make an appointment. Belles can get pretty busy on weekends and you really need to make an appt. I have worked with three different ladies so far and all have been very nice and helpful. I found a great dress at a great price (their prices are more reasonable than some local competition). My only disappointment is their selection of bridesmaids dresses. One of my bridesmaids is plus sized and they only had one dress in her size in the store. It's hard to compare dresses when you can't put any of them on. However, this is not something that will sway me away from using them.
Poor customer service – I would not recommend this bridal shop to anybody. We even made an appointment because a lot of the bridesmaids were from out of town, the ladies at the shop were extremely rude and we must have waited for at least a half an hour before anyone even noticed us. Most of the girls paid for there dresses on April 14th the day we went there and some waited to place there order because of money, the ladies said that "they would order the dresses the day they received the last payment". The final girl paid on may 30, the ladies said the dresses would take 3-4 months to get here. Whatever that would be fine, but now it is 4 1/2 months later and they are still not here that doesn't leave us a lot of time for alterations.
Friendly Staff – I had a great time working with the girl that I worked with. I did make an appointment which is a must at almost every bridal shop unless you go to David's which you get awful service there.
