Fun in the Sun – If you enjoy a no nonsense bar with an outside deck that serves reasonably priced drinks and has music then this is the place for you. It's always a good time on the Pier. The crowd is friendly and interesting. Come with friends or come to make friends - it's all good.
Popular hang-out on the Embarcadero – We stopped in on a Thursday afternoon after a recommendation from a local. A lot of locals packing the windy, chilly outdoor patio on the Pier. The view was great at sunset. Service was OK, and the seafood we ordered was above average and priced about right. I would go back to Pier 23, but probably only for lunch or a drink.
This big patio on the bay is famous for fish, margaritas and music--perfect for sunny afternoons. – In Short
The atmosphere changes quicker than the tide. One might uncover a peaceful lunch-meeting place or a lively drinking dive on the outside deck. Inside might host a soulful reggae shakedown or a rowdy group watching the Giants game. Suits looking for an after-work drink, casual locals, bikers and the occasional tourist fill the bar stools and tables. The margaritas complement the fresh fish dishes while peel-and-eat shrimp, lightly seasoned, go great with a Corona.
Poor Management – EXTREME POOR MANAGEMENT***we made reservations at Pier 23 for a 40 person office party before Thanksgiving. Just 2 days before the event, Pier 23 called us and rudely informed us that they were canceling our party in order to accommodate another bigger party. The management was not at all apologetic. Service and behavior of this manner is both inexcusable and unprofessional.
Top Shelf Margaritas! – Great place for parties! They really lay out a nice buffet, good BBQ, terrific music.
Margaritas not that great!!!!!!!!! – I don't why people like the margaritas so much. They have one flavor and don't blend it, only on the rocks and their tiny. The ONLY good thing about the place was the outdoor seating.
great place to be – pier 23 is the best place to be, kick it after work, on the weekends or just to hang out!!! service tries to be the best, but sometimes its just too crowded....but luv the atmosphere...all types of people just enjoying what ur enjoying, food, music, drinks,& the view outside.....hey try the owners other bar in the city 2!!! sweeties!!!!
Skip the food. Go for the music. – Pier 23 music and atmosphere is one of my favorite places for dancing on a Sunday evening. Here's my advice though - skip the food. The service is really really slow. Don't know why as all the servers seem really nice and sincere but it will take you FOREVER to get an order in. If you do decide to order Whatever you do DON'T order grilled onions on your burger. I made this mistake and my burger was so greasy that it drenched the bun and the fries. Not the yummy burger I'd had in mind.
Best Sunny Day Spot in SF – Pier 23 has the best patio, crowd, and food in it's company. Perfect spot to view eye candy, drink margaritas and dance at night. Weekends are a mad house so I tend to stick with the cool events they put on during the week such as jazz, raggae, and funk.
Good spot with a great patio – The on-the-water patio makes Pier 23 a really great spot. The food quality is quite good, the drinks are strong, and the crowd is a mix of folks from locals to bridge & tunnelers to out-of-towners.
