We had a great experience – The atomsphere was very nice - food excellent. The cocktails were a little pricey but good. Our waiter was very knowledgable - showed just a bit of an attitude but made for good conversation each time he left our table.

I will go back - it was a great experience.

Great flatbread, bruschetta, & double-chocolate pudding – Service is usually excellent. The parmesean flat-bread is addictive and I always start my meal off with their unique version of bruschetta (with roasted tomatoes and goat cheese). I like the spaghetti and meatball (add fresh mozz!) except for the fact that the meatball doesn't really have any texture. Chicken pizza with fontina is excellent but get a side of marinara to kick it up a little bit (unfortuantely, they will charge you for this). Take a pass on the carbonara (boring and flavorless) and any steak special they have--which is usually served with an undercooked farro (no thanks). Like others, I agree that the baked penne is awful. The outdoor patio, complete with misters, is very scenic and smells beautiful, with fresh herbs growing along the trellises.

Great service, beautiful patio – The food was fine, but dinner on the beautiful patio was the highlight! Their service is great. Be sure to get an Italian soda (I had raspberry). They're wonderful! I'll go back again.

worst italian food – Now i've been to trio on numerous occasions just to give it a chance. Many people love this restaurant. I'm sorry you feel this way. On my first visit I tried the baked penne. HORRIBLE! Not only was it over cooked, it was possibly the greasiest dish I have ever had to endure. I also had the house salad. Not bad but overpriced for what I recieved. By this time I was to saturated with grease I couldn't bring myself to dessert. Second try. Pizza. Wow... this is the worst pizza I've ever had. Margarhita pizza? Where did they come up with this recipe? Unripe tomatoes, sauce?, unmelted cheese, and basil that looked like it was cut with a butter knife! On top of all that it was under cooked on one side and burnt on the other. Third times the charm right? Wrong. Next I would try something anybody can cook. Pomodoro. Under seasoned sauce that was way to watery. Overcooked pasta. Burnt tomatoes. Mozzarella that was so dry it was like rubber. Now that was it. I will never dine at this supposed "hip" restaurant ever again. I'd rather stay home and make something that actually tastes good. Apparently I'm not the only one that feels this way. At least the ones with a palate.

TASTED LIKE A MICROWAVE SPECIAL!!! – My wife and I wanted to enjoy a nice Valentines Day dinner at this so called exquisite restaurant. The first thing that gave away that this restaurant was a bit shady is when my wife asked for no mushrooms in her entree. The waiter beat around the question and then told us that it comes pre-prepared and they could not remove the mushrooms. Then when the food arrived, at first glance the noodles looked overcooked and hard at the edges. Also, the vegetables were soggy like the consistency of a quick a five minute meal you would pull out of the freezer. The taste of the meal confirmed to my wife and I that we were in a fancy restaurant eating TV dinners.

Contemporary atmosphere inside & out, outstanding service and worth every penny! – We've visited Trio on several occasions, in many seasons and they have never disappointed us. The atmosphere is contemporary with a mid sized, dining area both inside and on the patio. Inside, the lighting is subdued but not dark. I'd say, just right. Though it can get crowded inside, the noise level is never too much, yet it seems hopping.

The patio is reasonably sized, but still quaint. There are hanging lights along the top of the patio for decoration and mood as well as upright heating units for those cooler evenings.

The food at Trio is some of my favorite in Salt Lake. Their dishes are custom prepared and change slightly every few months. I'm partial to the salmon which is always cooked in a way that is ever so slightly firm, almost crisp on the outside, but it just melts in your mouth - without an overwhelming amount of butter or grease like some places add. Many nights I've just ordered the special and been pleased with something completely new.

The portions of all the dinners are American-sized satisfying. Their wine list is comprehensive and delicious. The deserts are great, but I'm usually too full to enjoy much more than a bite or two.

Trio's staff have all, always been very pleasant and accommodating. They are quite knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. I've had prompt, caring service each time we've visited.

We recently took world traveling friends from out of state to Trio and they were quite impressed with the level of service and the taste of the food. If only they had visited in the summer and enjoyed the patio - maybe next year.

Good atmosphere. Good service. – The atmosphere at the Trio is great... it's cool and relaxing, and the servers are friendly and helpful.

The food is good, but not fantastic. The presentation of the dishes is good as well, and I think overall it's very good for the money.

Best Chill spot, and Best Atmosphere – I have absolutely fallen in love with this place. I use to live in LA, and this reminds me of the posh outdoor cafes I would eat at there. I highly recommend the house salad to start, it comes with candied walnuts and grapes. Also the appetizer of roasted polenta and sundried tomato sauce is divine. If you are a wine drinker, they have a excellent selection to compliment your food choice(according to my co worker).

New Location – I have heard many good things about Cafe Trio's original location, but my experience at their new location was abyssmal. The restaurant was set up like a maze, the waitress had to lead each of our group to the restroom, and each of us took a different path back, past overflowing bus stations and lounging employees. The menu was sparse, with very few appetizing selections. I was forced to make my choice based on what I thought I would dislike least. We had a minimum of four different servers, and our beverage order took 30 minutes to get to us. The food was bland and unoriginal, the booths were uncomfortable and faux-contemporary. My perception was that it was the Olive Garden trying to be hip. My prediction is that it will be closed in six months.

Worth Three Cheers! – This place was great, and besides the service being wonderful the food was just as good. I love the flat breads, they are simple and delicious. I also have to reccomend the mushroom soup! WOW!

I also must say that as supporters for the Art and Soup Event held downtown they have shown real community spirit. And that makes the meal all that much better. If that is even possible!
