total rip off – I went there about a week ago after a night out in manayunk. Saw the diner and decided to catch a quick meal around 1am. Now it is 1am and a diner, so Im not expecting anything fantastic. Just something inexpensive and decent quality.
Well, to recap. The waitress was completely rude, just rolled up and said what do you want, that was all she said the whole time we were there. We ordered, she walked away, 20 minutes later she rolled back and dropped the plates on the table (yes, dropped). Didnt say one word and walked away. 10 minutes later she rolled back again and dropped off the check, again didnt say a word.
Now onto the prices. They were completely outrageous for a diner and I think they overcharged because I would never have ordered an $11 western omelet. But that was what the check read, one $11 omelet, and one $10 omelet. I was going to dispute it but didnt have the menu to check against and really didnt feel like disputing with the waitress, who was no where to be found. Im not sure if this place has a normal menu and then a take advantage of late night crowd menu, but cant image they get repeat customers at those prices. The place was pretty empty at the time we were there.
Food ? Well, the portions were small and toppings were sparse. For the price, the portions should have been much larger.
The only positive thing I can say, is the person who seated us was very nice.
I wont return there, also I wont ever go to Zestys either being they have the same owner.
CUTE Waiter (think his name is john) BUT CHEATED ME – I ALSO GOT CHEATED. the hostess swiped my debit card three times because she thought the receipt paper was out thus she kept swiping charging me three times for what was purchased. I went in at 2 a.m. YES 2, i am serious abotu my money to speak with the manager. He said oh we only charged you this only this and i brought in my statement and said no its this. He said i would have to take it up with my bank and I called my bank and filed a dispute against them. I will get my money bank...trust.
These guys also cheated me! – I ALSO GOT CHEATED BY THE OWNER. He also overcharged me, and when I questioned what he did, he refused to own up to it, even though I emailed and mailed him my receipt from that night. He kept saying he'll get to it, he'll get to it. But he never fixed it. This place owes me an extra $34 dollars. I am never going back there. The owner Eric was a real mean guy with a mean streak. Don't even mess with a place like this. Also the food was HORRENDOUS and the wait was horrible. Not romantic and cheesy decorations. Only redeeming factor about this place is that it's open late and near a theater. But, in Manayunk a lot of places are open late. Also the food was pricey for diner food. Don't go here....be forewarned.
They cheated me – I ate at the Manayunk diner about 9 months ago, I contacted the owner because they charged my THREE TIMES what I signed for on my credit card. I have contacted the owner, Eric, who repeatedly promises to send me the money he owes me. However, 9 months later, and about 18-20 phone calls later, he still hasn't mailed me the money he owes me the money. I've about given up and I'm about to go through a collection agency. The diner is a cheat. The food is satisfactory, but totally overpriced for mediocre diner food. And the wait is slow.
Sweet Food and Hot Waitress – I love the Manayunk Diner- every time I get wasted in manayunk after the bars close i head to the Diner at the beginning of Main Street. Not only is the food absolutely amazing at 2:45 in the morning but my waitress is always HOT. There's a tall girl with brown hair named Rachel- whos real hot and actually really sweet- best waitress ever. Great end to a great night.
One Hot Blonde in Sand Please! – (That's "diner talk" for a cup of coffee with cream and sugar.) Ahh Manayunk Diner, conveniently located between Regal Cinemas and a Wine and Spirits shop. It's a great place for a "pre-theatre" aka movie dinner or for hungry insomniacs on Friday or Saturday. The diner features a full bar with an upstairs cocktail lounge and pool tables. Our waitress was very friendly and took good care of us. I had a Circle Burger (well done) and it was so juicy and delicious. The fries were very crispy, yum. My boyfriend had pancakes, eggs and a cup o' Joe. I recommend taking a look at the dessert case before you sit or after you finish your meal. All the cookies and cakes look so appetizing! The total bill came to around 20 dollars including drinks. Manayunk Diner is a steal, but then again, aren't most diners?
Good Times – It's a nice atmosphere, they have some live music and open mic once in a while. The food is pretty good. The french onion soup is awsome. They have 2 pool tables and a game room up stairs (shhh most people don't know), and they serve alcohal. I live within walking distance, so I go there a lot and hang out with friends. It's nice and bright and I've had a lot of good times in there. Open 24 hours, so if your in the Yunk after last call and want some food on your way home, this is the place. It's also next to the movie theatre so they get crowded when movies let out. Service is a little on the down side, but I mean.. if your going to a diner and expect 5 star then go somewhere else with that pole in your (beep).
Don't Bother! – I was so excited when I saw that Manayunk was getting a diner I couldn't wait to try it out. Unfortunately, that's where my excitement ended. The service was horrible, not only did she take 30 minutes to get to our table to take our order in an almost empty restaurant but also she got our order completely wrong! The food was ok, but not what we ordered. Our waitress/hostess was rude and inappropriately dressed for a Sunday morning. We spent two hours in the diner, 30 minutes waiting to order, 45 minutes to receive our food, 15 minutes to eat and another 30 minutes to receive our bill. All in all a horrible experience! I will never go back!
