Horrible-do not waste your time – Attempted to have dinner here with my husband. It was 5:30 and the place was not full, yet looked to be fully staffed. So there is no excuse for the service we rec'd. **Seated and ordered water , drinks, and place setting from waitress who could barely speak English. **Bread came about 10 minutes later and we asked busboy if he could check on drinks, water, place settings. **Waitress came back and took our dinner order and we asked again for water, drinks, place settings or at least a knife and napkin to start on the bread/butter **Sat there for about 10 more minutes and nothing came so we got up to leave **Stopped the clueless manager (blonde young woman) who was roaming the room in a fog to tell her that we were leaving, to please cancel our order and recounted the lack of service we rec'd. **And her reply was, "oh...OK!". and then a woman sitting at a table next to us said, "hey I got this coke i didn't order...maybe it was yours!". Nah..we ordered martinis:-) Now I was a waitress so I am overly empathetic and patient if somebody is new or the place is understaffed but here is a situation where the owner has chosen to employ a waitress, busboy and manager who are completely inept.
Just so-so – great Tableside Ceasar Salads. Wait staff sometimes slow and rude. I do not drink alcohol either and got same reaction from waiter when no drinks were ordered. Great location but slow and expensive for what you get. Bus staff very good.
save your money – i decided to have a light meal. i started off with fish soup which was unfortunately lacking flavor. my friend had the "famous french soup", which was satisfactory, but not worthy of finishing. our waitress was apologetic for the slow bar service, but this seems to be a common complaint of this restaurant. we went with the cheese platter which was a safe bet.
YUM! – The lobster ravioli is amazing here, definitely the best thing on the menu. The servers don't know a lot about the cheese selection so have something in mind-like the smoked gouda (yum) and i assure you they'll have it. Best french onion soup i've ever had... ever, ever, ever...
Excellent Steak – FIRST - This review is for the STEAKHOUSE - The downstairs BISTRO is a completely different menu!!!
My family and I agreed that the steaks were some of the finest that we had ever ate. Beautifully cooked and they melted in your mouth. The steaks can come with a variety of sauces and are delivered with four different flavoring salts.
If you can swing it, order the seafood platter that comes w/ a dungeness crab, 1/2 lobster, and prawns. Pricey, but a real treat if split between a large group.
However, be prepared to wait for your food. Good things come to those who wait.
Not recommended due to rude manager, Albert. – Upon leaving Morels, there was no host to give us validation tickets for our parking, so I reached down under the front podium to retrieve them. The manager, Albert, accused us of trying to steal parking validation tickets. In retrospect, my friends and I should have celebrated her birthday dinner at La Piazza, the Italian restaurant located across from yours, where we have never been accused of lying and stealing parking validation tickets and we would have never left feeling insulted
The most horrible dining experience in my life. – When we got there at 10:00 pm they told us it would be a 15 minute wait and we ended up waiting 45 minutes. Then when we finally sat down the waiter came over and made fun of us for sitting next to each and not across from each other in a booth because we were both women and he also complained because he had worked for 5 hours that day. When we didn't order any alcohol and just salads to begin that made the waiter angry. Then we ordered our food (steak and chicken) which was just okay for what they were charging and not once did the waiter come over to check on us. When we were done eating we asked for seperate checks, since we were on a business trip and he said he didn't know if he could do that. So he brings us seperate checks and puts two salads on one ticket stating that he could not seperate them. So one check ends up being really high and one really low and we were talking amongst ourselves saying that it didn't seem right, so he brings a calculator over and slams it on the table, how inappropriate! If it was up to me I woudn't have tipped him at all. Does he not understand that he works in the SERVICE INDUSTRY? I have to say that this was the most horrible dining experience in my life and I wound not reccommend this restaurant to anyone unless you plan on bad food and bad service for a high price.
Food is average and overpriced for the quality. – I ordered the steak from the lunch menu. The quality and flavor was just average for $19. I expected better quality from a restaurant that advertises itself as a steakhouse. The service was ok. The kitchen staff broke or dropped things frequently and the waiters stood by the doors looking bored and complaining about the place not being as busy as they had been promised when they were hired.
Manager accepted $20 and gave our reserved table away – We made reservations for a group on 9. We bumped them back from 7pm to 7:30 pm and were asked to promise to show up because they were holding the table for us. Our full group showed up at 7:30 only to watch the manager accept $20 and give our table away. When we called him on it, the host tried to blame it on us not showing up at 7pm. Terrible awful criminal treatment. They missed out because we had some wealthy wine drinkers in our group. We left.
food, service above average........ – All in all i think Morel's was a decent place to try out. The service and food was good but nothing special. I went upstairs to the steakhouse and had the NY prime rib while my date had the filet mignon. the quality of the meat was good but both were undercooked to what we had asked. The wine list is ok also. For desert we had some apple thing, needless to say it didn't leave much of an impression that's why I can't even remember the name of it. The bar is probably the best part of Morel's. The martinis and mojitos were amazing.
