First time, enjoyed the experience – Friday evening outside patio 7:45, 3 tables taken, 9:15 filling up. Nice evening, early with people inside, why ? Good for us. Our waiter Andy very attentive and a full knowledge of the menu. Like all fairly expensive steak houses if you want to eat big then it’s not for you. I started of with Shrimp with a hot sauce, then Chicken with a side of mash and Mushrooms, both really tasty. Finishing off with a really delicious Thin Pastry with Apple, topped with ice cream. My friend had Escargots to start, then the Sea food bowl he said both were excellent, alas with a side of not so good Pomme Frites. The wine was fine, we picked Beaujolais. After a few hours and coffee, left very happy.
I have been to many Steak house, the ambience, surroundings and space here is much more suited to relaxing with company. Both my friend and I will return.
Finger Food – Food was just fine until my wife noticed the chef/ cook reaching into the shredded lettuce bowl with his bare fingers, forking it into his mouth, and then wiping his fingers on his apron. We were then served our dinners using this self same lettuce.
I would not have said anything, except it made me so ticked off... if this guy has something I don't want on his hands it's going in my mouth... just wanted to stop it also going into your mouth too. (This review is for the Bistro downstairs only).
Best Fondu I've ever Had – I love this restaurant. I have been for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The fondu is great. I love shopping with my daughter and then stopping in for fondu and salad. It's one of my favorite restaurants! Service is very good. Exceptional ambiance upstairs. I enjoy sitting outside - - and people watching. It's located near the fountain, so there is so much to keep us entertained.
Nice atmosphere, but not the greatest food – I went to Morels after a long day of taking guest from another country out. I wanted to take my guest to a nice place, but we were very disappointed.
I wouldn't complain if the price of the food matched the taste...don't get me wrong I will pay good money for good food. We ordered: onion rings, spinach and avocado salad, the salmon, a pasta dish and the special (scallops with fillet mignon) and ratatouille. The service was amazing I'll give them that. The food: the only things that tasted decent were the salad and onion rings. The salmon had no flavor. The pasta was undercooked. the fillet mignon came with a sauce that was flavorless, the scalloped were over cooked and burnt, I had to embarrassingly ask for A1 sauce. The rataouille was fair, but you really can't make a mistake with rataouille.
And, surprisingly the place was packed probably because people knew that there was an Ashanti concert that is right in front of the restaurant and they wanted to be able to eat and see the concert. This was our first time and last time at Morels.
You decide for yourself if you want to go there...good atmosphere, good service, terrible expensive food.
worst hugely disappointing and insulting(food wise)!!!!!!!!! – Succulent fruit of the sea (oyster on the 1/2 shell) is what I longed for; dirty stinky tasting feet is what I got.
Of course I returned them. I can only pray physically I do not contract some vial disease nor to dismiss the detestable branding on my brain.
The $15.00 blt contained 3 cuts from 1/2 pc bacon on one side of 1/2 sandwich.
My $10.00 bloody mary was overpowered with worstershire sauce. No condiments and no liquor AND since the waiter whom I must say was very nice just did not make it as a server.(maybe a Dr.) The poor gal trying to light the candles did all the extra stuff which should have been the norm, caught grief from the bartender complaining the server should be handling the Witch(me)
I politely reminded the gal to inform the ((Ihate to call him a bartender (not to insult the profession) ))mixer of drinks pphft. He needs to go back to the school of libations. +++ Do they think the patron cannot hear their
innuendos and remarks.
PLUS the false advertising on the menu discribing .
If this is your idea of a good time Morels is for you.
If you are from and on this planet,
GO ANYWHERE ELSE
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
It was great customer service. – My friend and I have loved this restaurant because of Patty, who worked there
until recently. She was always pleasant and efficient. It was a joy being served by her.
We miss her, and now we do not have a reason to go back. I am sorry.
Horrible service. No apologies. – The waiter never brought our water or silverware (I had to ask for it). The steak was overcooked, we never got refills or our check, I finally had to go find a manager myself to get our check and it still took 25 more minutes to get it even though there were very few people there. I asked for a to go box which also never came so I left half of my overcooked $32 steak to waste. Nothing was taken off, nor did anyone apologize.
Best place in LA to have romantic dinner – My Wife and i went to Morel's for our 5th year Wedding anniversay . The Service at this restaurant was great from the begining of my conversation with the person who took our reservation 2 days prior. Upon arrival on saturday evening for our 830pm reservation we were greeted by the manager, and the hostess. They both, with a smile, said "Welcome to Morel's:",, at that moment i knew our night was going to be special. The Manager proceeded to accompagnie us up the stairs to the steakhouse. once we got to the top of the stairs, we were again greeted by another hostess. The Manager continued to guide us to our table. 45 Seconds later, our server approched the table wih a smile and greeted us as if were VIPs, My wife and I never said a word about our anniversary celebration, no one knew that this was a special night for us, and we were treated like royalties. The Service was perfect, the pace was great, the music was nice, The food was AMAZING! The Ribeye dry was tender, flavorful, and juicy, my wife had the baked lobster, which the waiter was kind to deshell at our table. At the start of our dinner they brought us an Amuse bouche , that paired well with the wine that the Sommelier had suggested to us, and then, came our ceasar salad , which was prepared table side ,, the busser kept refilling our water, and maintained our table clean the whole night . The effort that the staff puts out there to make their guests happy and fell comfortable, is priceless. We will not go anywhere else, Morel's became a tradition for us.. And on top of it all, when we finally told the waiter, that we were celebrating our Wedding anniversary, The same manager who greeted us in the begining brought us a beautiiful and tastyChocolate Souffle., and he said "I wish i knew this dinner was a Wedding anniversay, I would have made your niight special", my wife and i looked at eachother and laughed. THANK YOU MORELS FOR AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT!
The best wine and Cheese pairing – Last month i had probably the best tasting of wine and cheese. and i am a bit of conaisseur on wine. I went to Morel's Frenchsteakhouse where they were hosting their monthly wwine and cheese event. the atmosphere was great, the service was exceptionnal, and of course the food is to die for.
The best service EVER!!!! – You know....i've been around and really appreciates when we find a PROFESSIONAL server to do what he does best , we had a opportunity to be served by a waiter called Phellipi and he sugested us to try the Lobster caesar salad all done table side, he also served us and offered to slice the steaks and was just amazing. Thank you for the fantasctic service.
