Fantastic place for Chinese – I feel compelled to mention that I work for Citysearch. Although my opinion my may have a small bias, I have been to many Chicago Chinese restaurants. I live in Logan Square, so it's nice to have Friendship so close. My family and I have eaten at Friendship several times and we have never been disappointed. The food is fantastic and the place is beautiful inside. Whenever my wife and I want great Chinese, this is where we both like to go. It is a little pricier than a few other Chinese restaurants, but the atmosphere and quality is far superior to the others in our neighborhood.
Food isn't as good as much cheaper places AND you don't get what you paid for anyway. – What a bummer! I ordered from Friendship for the first time in over a year after seeing it on Check Please! and hoped they were better. I was wrong. The food is just not that good, even for Chinese delivery, which I think everyone orders when craving but with a grain of salt...nobody expects A+ chow but for A+++++ prices, I expected more from Friendship. Beyond the "eh" food, we received only 2 of the 4 veggie rolls we ordered. Not a big deal ordinarily, but this kind of thing has happened with this place before and for $50, I want my food! I called today and the man who answered the phone didn't say anything at first and then must have found his script when I said, "Well?....." He responded, "So sorry. Will not happen in the future." I find that hard to believe since he didn't ask who I was, what I ordered or how he could refund me for the items I didn't receive or compensate me in the future. I find this incredibly annoying considering a dinner for two came to $50, including tip! To put this in perspective, I can order twice as much food that is as good or even better (albeit, not as "creative") at Eat First for nearly half the price. I hate to write a bad review because I'm all about supporting the local, Logan Square joints but, obviously, they don't share the same loyalties with their customers. Going "outside the box" for Chinese is fine....if it's good and you get what you paid for. These days, with $2.75 delivery charges, $11.95 entrees and missing food, I'll be ordering elsewhere.
TERRIBLE PLACE – service was horrible because we never knew who our server was. In addition, the staff was seated at a table and were all eating at the same time well after we placed our order. the food was very bland and no taste. This place is also over priced and offer no free refills. I couldn't believe that out of five different people I interacted with not one asked how everything was. You've been warned.
Best Chinese Food in Chicago! – I have been to other Chinese restaurants that are very good but Friendship is truly the best. Although the delivery takes some time, it is worth the wait. All chicken dishes are delicious. The chicken isn't gross, and I have yet to bite into a piece that is awful. If I moved out of the delivery zone, I would probably find a way to get there because it is so good.
unique style, off the beaten path – it's nice to have such an unusual place so near my home in logan square. the champagne lemon chicken is just the right balance of flavors and textures. The soups are good too but i was a bit distressed at the use of artificial crabmeat in the hot and sour and crab and corn soups. Really an odd choice for a restaurant that in most other ways is above average. If you're giving me seafood, then really give it to me, otherwise I'd rather have the pork. I'm definitely going back to try other things, I'm just avoiding anything with crab in it (except the crab rangoon, which was great!)...
Inexpensive Chinese restaurant serving dim sum and traditional dishes with interesting twists. – In Short
A bright Asian facade gives way to a low-lit, elegant interior with blond wood floors. Ever-so-slightly upscale, this French-influenced Chinese spot in Logan Square dishes up affordable mainstays like kung pao chicken and crab rangoon as well as champagne lemon chicken and grilled Hong Kong steak--served in a potato shell--to a neighborhood crowd.
customer – some of the most original chinese style dishes we've ever had. The duck and Hong Kong steak are excellent. The only chinese restaurant with good deserts.
