he sucks – Dr Lazar sucks.
He is not professional at all! The only reason I saw him was he had fewer patience than others and it was easier to get an appointment but I'd never go back again! After 5 years, I'm still angry about him.
A shame he left! – I was shocked to learn my favorite (I'd prefer him for any medical need) physician moved last September. I have seen both he and his father for the past 22 years and found them both extremely professional and very caring! When my mother interned at Highland Park Hospital in the 1960's, she also knew his father. I find the other reviews absolutely ridiculous-they obviously didn't know this man or have too sensitive a personality for any physician! Over the years, he has calmed my concerns many times. My maternal grandfather (Irish) died of Melanoma at 51, so I was a bit concerned about my many moles (I'm also Italian). I have referred everyone to him. He has shown everyone I know great respect and has always been professional. Perhaps the super-sensitive reviewers should try a NY physician-They'd probably whine of having PTSD from an apptmt in the Big Apple. Dr. Lazar (like myself) was a native Highland Parker and Chicagoan-so if you can't handle someone being honest and telling it like it is, go to some doctor in the outskirts to pacify you!
Weird Highland Park Dermatologist Goes Out of Business! – The worst experience I have ever had. This doctor is hostile, arrogant, belligerent and wrong! After I changed an appointment today Dr. Lazar got on the phone and proceeded to rudely and disrespectfully yell at me for changing the appointment. I have never been treated with such disrespect. Not only would I not recommend Dr. Lazar, but I would strongly advise all patients to watch out for his violent and psychotic nature. This is not a stable man. This man is unprofessional, a bad business man and some one that should be ashamed for his poor conduct towards a patient. He has not only lost my business but I will make sure that everyone I talk to knows how poorly he treated me. This is not a person that should be allowed to walk the streets let alone practice medicine. He has prescribed two expensive formulas that did not work, he was short with me when I saw him last and after his disgraceful display today, and I recommend that he sees professional help. Dr. Lazar should be ashamed of himself.
he made me uncomfortable – I don't consider myself a sensitive person but during my routine appointment with Dr. Lazar he mentioned envisioning what my bare butt looks like, me being unclothed, me keeping my legs crossed as a birth control measure and people looking at me on the street. I don't think he had any bad intentions but I definitely felt weird during the appointment and won't be going back.
Superb care from the top of his field – My experience as Dr. Lazar's patient have been exceptionally wonderful. Despite the reasons for my visits being a little on the scarier side, Dr. Lazar was extremely professional, helpful, caring and demonstrated his knowledge of the field. He is a leader in the dermatological field and his expertise is mirrored in his care as a physician. He provides me and my family with excellent care and attentiveness. Unlike many doctors, he understands that dermatology isn't solely about the cosmetic procedures and has made sure to ensure the health of my family. I'd recommend him to anyone.
No Thanks To Dr. Lazar – I went to Dr. Lazar because my mother had battled melanoma for years. I recently lost my mother to this horrible disease. My first impression was the rude receptionist/nurse (who knows what she was). She was probably the most undignified person I have ever encountered. It only got worse with Dr. Lazar. Because of my family history, I should be scanned thoroughly over my body once per year. When I went in to see him, he not only was as rude and unprofessional as his receptionist, but he could have cared less that I had a high chance of melanoma and only asked me what spots I wanted looked at. Then he proceeded to tell me that the moles on my back would be for my husband to watch and in his words "if you know what I mean...". I was not only disgusted at his lack of concern for my history, but for his sexual innuendo. It took over a week for him to get my results back to me.
At that point, he then told me that one of my moles was "atypical" and possible stage 1 melanoma. He quickly got off the phone with me. I was so upset and concerned I called back and asked for more details. He then said "no no, I never said that, it is just atypical and precancerous". Totally different than what he had said before. I then had my records sent over to my mothers oncologist to let me know what was really happening and was told it was nothing to worry about.
I was so angry that he had scared me like that and never took the time to care about my health.
I have since moved my business over to Dr. Meyer Horn and have never been happier!
Pompous and Unprofessional – My experience with Dr. Lazar was very similar to the September post. I went in for an acne problem and I was told that the culprits were oily skin and hormones. He went on to explain to me that the same hormones that gave me my 'bo*bs' (his exact words!!) were now giving me acne. He also told me that the only way to clear up the problem was to stop wearing my oil-free moisturizer and sunscreen despite the fact that I actually have dry skin. It seems a tad irresponsible for a dermatologist to advise against wearing sunscreen when you have a family history of skin cancer. I'd love to see how my skin would look in ten years if I took his advice! Spend your time and money on another physician.
I want my money back – This "doctor" is a joke. His receptionist (nurse?) is unfriendly and unhelpful. The doctor is a pompous (insert word here that starts with 'A" and ends with "S") who does nothing but talk the entire time. How a doctor is supposed to diagnose someone when he doesn't even give them a chance to explain their symptoms is beyond me. I came in for excessive redness around my nose and was sent home with the diagnosis of "oily skin" and a prescription for hydrocortizone which does NOTHING except reduce redness, does not actually cure the problem. I was basically told that I was a "pretty girl" who was making a big deal out of a little redness that wouldn't even be noticeable on someone who was less attractive or fat. Seriously, those were his words. I've had people comment on my "sunburn" before, this is NOT something in my head but CLEARLY noticeable to others. Did I mention this guy is outrageously expensive too? My bill came to $150(!!!) for an appointment that lasted less than a half hour. Save yourself the time and effort, this guy is WORTHLESS. Now I get to spend more money on another dermotologist because (surprise, surprise!) 2 months later the problem is STILL there. It says one star rating is "Not Recommended" - I give him negative 5 stars for STAY AWAY.
Unethical and Unkind – This guy is unbelievable! He was treating my 9 year old son for a minor skin condition and his treatment caused a major infection to develop in my son's leg. I made an appointment to bring him in to Dr. Lazar but stopped at a friend who is an MD on the way. My friend said it looked like a staph infection and that I shoud immediately go to my pediatrician and start an antibiotic. In my panic that my son might have Staph I didn't inform dr. Lazar's office that I wasn't coming in. He billed me $55.00 as a no-show fee. This is after many years of me seeing him and never once cancelling. And it was his bad judgement in treatment choices that caused a nasty infection on my son's leg. He is unethical and unkind. Stay away!
He is a business man than a doc – He and his nurse are jerks. I learned it in a hard way. Never see him even there is no other doc available.
