Wow, not very cordial. Acted like he would rather be some where else. Spoke to me like I was an idiot. Actually did an eye roll when I asked him to look at something. Ugh, I am not going back for a follow up. Buh Bye.
I was referred by my doctor and had a great experience. He was very reassuring and I have since sent in my husband and girlfriend who both liked him as well.
Dr.Jeff Bring him a tissue and don't expect much! – Dr. Bakal literally wiped his nose on his surgical glove as he was chit chatting non stop while performing a procedure to remove precancerous cells from my husbands neck. There was NO patient education given before or after the procedure. Dr.Bakal threw his blood stained gloves on the counter so God knows how clean the place is. My husband's family has a history of cancer and Dr.Bakal only had time to talk about his son (the kid is into music and debate) and his assistant moving to Arizona. The PA's we have seen have been much more professional than the doctor and we have never had issues with them. However, now that my husband has had two bouts with skin cancer I don't feel safe in this office. I sure hope no mucus got in his surgery site since the doc couldn't be bothered to get a tissue.
An interested and interesting doctor – I almost never write reviews. I had to enroll in whatever this is to do this one. But I wanted to present another side of Dr. Bakal. It's not that I dispute the experience of the other reviews. It's just that mine couldn't have been more different; more positive. The Doctor explained my condition, what it meant, how it probably occured and what he proposed to do about it. Then he did it. No less and - uncommonly in the healthcare profession - no more. While he was doing his examination and then while making his notes, we had interesting conversations about subjects as diverse as backpacking with his son to eBay businesses. We even talked a bit about the business of dermatology. I found him pleasant, funny and interesting. As for the skin problem, it has been well treated and under control. I have complete confidence in the practice.
Dr Jeff - Zero compassion or bedside manner – I saw Dr Jeff for a one time small procedure a few weeks ago, took about 5 minutes. While in the room, I don't think he said more than 10 words to me. He barely said hello when he came in, and just told me to lay down. Then without any warning or explanation of what was to happen, he stuck me with the numbing needle and finished the job. In all it took less than 5 minutes and the only thing he did the entire time was have a completely unrelated conversation with the nurse about a mutual friend of theirs, as though I wasn't even in the room. When he was done he took off his gloves and basically walked out the door with no word of what I should expect for healing, follow up, etc. I had to ask the nurse all the questions I would have thought it to be his job to explain.
The best I can say is the procedure was fast and I'm sure he did a fine job, but I walked out of there just kind of like "what the hell".
I'd been to the office once before and saw a PA there who was great, very nice and accommodating. I'd say if you can get away with seeing a PA then they have people there who are good, but if you need to see a dermatologist regularly, he is not one I would recommend. I ditto what the other reviewer said, he seemed bored with his job, and he could not care less at taking the time to explain what was going to happen during the procedure, and what the next few days would be like. No compassion, no interest in his patients as people, like he would have rather been a million other places than there.
Stay Away....The Worst – I've seen him 5 times.
He's consistently running behind.
He's bored with his job.
He hates his patients and is barely tolerant of questions. no compassion at all.
He does not like to talk and views you like a number, not a person.
If you have ANY choice, go see someone else.
This guy is not a good doctor.
