Nice improvements Yorktown! – Look, I hate shopping and especially despise shopping malls. I couldn?t remember the last time I went to Yorktown. My wife dragged me there to get a dress shirt for her sister?s wedding. Staff at Van Maur was more than helpful and found a shirt within 10 minutes. Then I realize I hadn?t been to Yorktown in years. When did they ad the nice outdoor shopping center? Pretty nice addition. Next thing I know we are at ?DOC? (some new wine bar) having drinks and some appetizers. This place is wonderful. Good food, knowledgeable staff and a great wine selection. Any way it was good to see a mall I remember from childhood evolving and thriving. It was a nice alternative from Oak brook. I would even go back. I might just have hang out at DOC while my wife shop though.
No convenient Public Transportation/Poor Mall Customer Service – With gas prices the way they are, the Mall is not public transportation user friendly. The nearest bus stop
is an uncomfortably long walk in inclement weather. I personally feel they would rather not have
people who use public transportation to shop at the mall. There are other malls with fantastic public
transportation, don't waste your time here.
Home to more than 150 stores and the new "Shops on Butterfield". – The Scene
Anchored by JC Penney, Carson Pirie Scott and Iowa-based retailer Von Maur, Yorktown Center has more than 150 stores. "The Shops on Butterfield" expansion will feature more than 200,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment--some of the tenants will include Lucky Strike Lanes, Brio Tuscan Grille, D.O.C. Wine Bar, The Denim Loft, RA Sushi and much more.
Teen-agers inside Yorktown swirl over the new food court like bees in a rose garden. It's fast-food heaven with a McDonald's, Great American Steak and Potato, Sbarro's: The Italian Eatery, Cinnabon, Dairy Queen and Sakkio. Don't forget to shop behind the mall where there's a Land's End Outlet Store with discounted men's and women's clothing from its catalog, or at the Carson's Furniture Gallery. End your shopping excursion with a movie inside General Cinema Yorktown, located right off the mall drive, with 18 screens to chose from.
