I have no problems with Burkardt's. I leave a check, they leave the gas. Even let me do a payment this pay day and post date one for next pay day. Not all people pay for their gas and stick them with a bill. Now adays you have to keep up on payments or companies lose to much money. Thank You Burkardt's for keeping us warm!!!

The worst customer service ever!!! Changing provider! – Burkhardt's has the absolute rudest and worst customer service I have ever experienced!!! We have been customers for over 20 years and had our parents switch their propane to Burkhardts over 20 years ago. We have ALWAYS been timely on our payments! Our work took us out of state and we were late on ONE bill. ONE in the fall which had been paid when we got home. It was now in the dead of winter and they did not come out and fill our tank and we ran out of propane at midnight on a Friday night. We had to call the emergency # and tell them we had paid the bill the month before (when we got home) and our current bill wasn't even due yet! They advised very rudely that they had sent a letter saying until we prepaid another tank they would not fill our tank! We had just returned from being out of the country for 2 weeks and had not even opened all of our mail at that point as we had only been home a few days.
They randomly decided to do this (in the dead of winter I say again) and if we would have still been out of town when the propane ran out our pipes would have frozen and I can't fathom the mess we would have come home to.....all because they made some random decision and sent us a letter assuming we were even home and would get it. AFTER BEING A GREAT CUSTOMER FOR 20+ YEARS!!!! The electric company doesn't shut your electric off before your bill is due if you were late the month before. The phone company doesn't randomly shut off your phone before your bill is even due if you were late on the previous bill. But we'll shut off your heat and due damage to your house because even though you are current on your bill now, you were late one time last month.
Once they were assured we would have a check for our current bill that wasn't even due yet to give to the driver, they only sent out a small truck which, for our 3-story 3,600 square foot home with gas stove, 2 fireplaces, etc. wasn't much so we hoped they would make a full delivery the next day. When we called we were very rudely told it wouldn't be for two more days unless we ran out during the night in which case we could call them, but not before she first asked if we had given a check to the driver the night before. We told her yes, we did and she said, "Oh, well I haven't spoken to the driver yet." So I didn't cook, do laundry and we barely kept the house above freezing lest we run out in the middle of the night again.
Let me restate, we are a very long standing customer, with 20+ years of good payment history. This was an incredibly lousy way to treat a customer and if I ran my business like this I wouldn't BE in business!!!!
Unbelievably horrible service and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Pay .05 cents a gallon more with someone else, you won't be sorry.
rotten service/ bev burkardt is very snippy!! – Beverly Burkhardt at Burkhardt's LP Gas was the worst I have every had with a so-called customer service rep. She was snippy,..and many other things that she said to me on the telephone were not nice) Their company let our LP tank run out of fuel 3 times in 60 days in the middle of nov/dec/Jan. after she assured me they would monitor consumption. When I tried to discuss the seriousness of that mistake, she got extremely defnsive. Her big concern was getting paid for the gas. even though my account was not past due!!
Possibly the Worst Customer Service EVER – I have had a propane tank from Burkardt's Lp Gas for about two years now (I purchased a trailer house in a campground a few years ago). When I did, I got in touch with Burkardt's to ensure continued service. Since I did not use the trailer on a constant basis (summers only), I wanted them to be aware of it. We worked out a pretty good deal - I put my annual rental down on my bank account for automatic renewal, and all bills would go to my caretaker (I'm military so I have a local caretaker watch the place when I'm away).
Thought things were going well, until my Father contacts me - Burkardt's contacted him for some reason and told him they took my tank since I hadn't purchased gas for it for over four years (first two - previous owners I suppose). I called them and asked why, since I have dutifully paid rent (and have the receipts to prove it) and I'm simply not using a lot of gas when I'm at the trailer (silly me, sometimes I like to cook in a fire...). The lady on the other end of the phone (Heather, I believe) nearly didn't let me talk. She immediately started berating me for non use and told me simply that it was a "done deal" and they sent me a check for the gas that was in the tank. They apparently don't like to do business with people who don't purchase 100 gallons of gas a year.
While I can appreciate their wish to have their product purchased, they could have easily done this differently. For example, they could have stated this up front - they made no mention of it (and until a few minutes ago, I never heard of it - what happened to my not using it last year?). They also could have contacted me instead of my Father, and they could have done so prior to simply removing the tank.
I am a reasonable individual - if I was contacted and told they wanted to disconnect me because I wasn't buying their gas enough, I likely would have offered to purchase the tank outright and then come to them whenever it needed filling. However, I never had that chance - they simply cut me loose and then berated me on the phone when I was caught unawares.
This isn't any sort of positive customer service and it's a poor business practice. They need to get off the defensive when a simple question is asked and they need to contact their customers (especially ones who have been paying rent!) prior to doing anyhing rash.
Best Price for LP – Burkardt's LP Gas has always had the best LP prices and I simply would not choose any other supplier. They are knowledgeable and always reliable and their customer service is superb.
good service – Always very competetive price, friendly in person or on phone.
Greatest customer service I've ever had! – Burkardt's LP Gas is a wonderful family owned business that strives to meet the needs of all their customers. They keep their prices very competitive along with great customer service. I am happy to be one of their customers!
Leading LP Company in Northern IL has terrible service – I have dealt with LP Gas vendors for 40 yrs and my service with Beverly Burkhardt at Burkhardt's LP Gas was the worst I have every had with a so-called customer service rep. She was snippy, (would not tell me to whom I was speaking until the 3rd time I asked....and many other things that she said to me on the telephone were not nice) Their company let our LP tank run out of fuel in the middle of Jan. after she assured me they would monitor consumption. When I tried to discuss the seriousness of that mistake, she got extremely defnsive. Her big concern was getting paid for the gas.
