Pretty Good Food, Questionable Service – Hearing about the Rainforest Cafe', My friend decided to go there for nostalgic purposes. (First time there for me) The meal was straight forward, and the burger was delicious. However, our waitress seemed to be a little off the grid. She seemed to check to see how we were doing a little too much, and couldn't seem to find $12.85 in change. After about five minutes, she finally dropped the change at our table, and sped off in another direction.
Is it worth a revisit? Maybe during lunch, but I'm not so sure for dinner.
Pros: Food, Atmosphere
AWFUL – Jermaine, our waiter, popped over to let us know he would be with us in "just a few minutes." Ten minutes later he came back with a grand apology and offered to take our drink order. Six beverages arrived approximately ten minutes after his second appearance and proved not to last until he decided to stop flirting with the young mall girls (dad's beware!) and pay us a visit to inquire about our order. To other kitchen workers delivered two-thirds of our order approximately 20 minutes later and asked two of our children, "did you place an order?" Their plates came approximately five minutes later and we all began eating our very expensive, poorly prepared meal. Jermaine stopped by to inquire about a refill of diet coke for my daughter that was never delivered and to see if we saved room for lava cake and/or somekind of brownie bites. We were not interested. The fishtanks are poorly maintained, the robotic animals are dirty and worn. We should have known that a mall restaurant with 80% of it's tables empty at prime lunchtime must have gone by the wayside. PLEASE respond when this review proves helpful!!!
Simply the best for kids – My 19 months old daughter loved this place. Lots of animals, good food, plenty of time to spend time with family. I will recommend this restaurant to my friends.
This cartoon jungle is a child's wonderland, with waterfalls, swinging monkeys and a canopy of faux flora and fauna. – In Short
While waiting for a table, hungry diners prowl the retail village, where cash-register ka-chings compete with chirping birds, roaring lions and chest-thumping gorillas. When the lights start to flicker, never fear--thunderstorms are part of the show. The menu is American comfort food--pastas, burgers, pizzas and salads--served with a tropical flair. There are plenty options that the kids will recognize, but enough novelty to keep the parents happy.
YUCK! – I have gone to RAINFOREST CAFE many times because it is my Godson's favorite restaurant. Each time I go it gets worse and worse. I remember when it first opened at Woodfield Mall several years ago the wait to get in was over an 1 hour long! Now, you can just walk in, get seated and be one of the only tables being served. Now, that is a sign of a bad restaurant! RAINFOREST CAFE is a great place for kids and they have a great selection on their kids menu. UNFORTUNATELY, for us adults, the food is by far the worst! Each time I go and order something different it ALWAYS makes my stomach sick! The menu is very limited as well. The next time my Godson wants to eat there I am going to have to pursuade him to eat somewhere else! I just cannot spen another dime on that nasty food!
BLAH!! – The atmosphere is great. Kids LOVED it! The food was worse than awful. I ordered clam chowder and I SWEAR it came out of a can! I also ordered the crab cake sandwich. Their "version" was a pile of crab meat on a bun. It wasn't even pan fried. -I can honestly say I've never had a "crab cake" made that way. My kids got dinosaur shaped ckicken nuggets. --exact same ones I've purchased at the grocery store in the frozen food section. I could have opened a can of crab or soup. --or defrosted the chicken nuggets at home! And I wouldn't have paid 5 times what the food was actually worth!
Yummy in my tummy – I love that place great food and the place really does look like a rainforest that is what makes it so cool.
