My husband and I have been taking private lessons here since October 2011. We've only been taking lessons from Constanza but we've spoken with office staff several times too. All of them are amazing. Even though it's a class and things aren't easy, we always leave class in a good mood, feeling it was easier than we feared because Constanza makes us feel supported and safe. She is AMAZINGLY patient and kind, and she has a great laugh that's just infectious. She is able to remember, even when we can't attend for a few weeks, what we've learned before and where we need to go next. She's excellent at preparing you for what's to come and reviewing what you've already learned. She loves questions and I always have plenty. She always has topics to discuss, examples of a particular rule or idiom, and there's never a dull moment. The combination of learning from the textbook, learning from readings in Spanish, learning by speaking and conversing, and learning by writing is a great mix. There have been several times when we've had to cancel or reschedule class very close to the class time and the staff (as well as Constanza) have been very kind and accommodating, and also very open about cancelation policies, financial penalties, and the like. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this establishment. When we first signed up, it was for a group class but we ended up being the only ones in it, so we decided to continue after that initial 8-week session with private classes and we're glad we did. You go at your own pace, whether that be faster or slower than usual, and you don't have to share the speaking time with others, meaning you speak more in class and that's essential to learning a new language. ¡Muchas gracias a todos en Spanish Horizons!
Good staff, mediocre program – I have taken language classes over the past four years at two different facilities, both in the city. I enjoyed the staff at Spanish Horizons, they were kind and helpful, but I felt the program lacked they type of structure I needed in order to become fluent and to actually speak the language as well as understand it. The amount of memorization was overwhelming at times and hard to keep up with on a weekly basis. The number of different instructors was often times a problem.
Great Instructors – I had a great experience at Spanish Horizons. My Spanish really improved. I am much more comfortable communicating with other fluent speakers. My instructor was great. He was very patient with me and always had time to help answer my may questions. I highly recommend taking classes here.
Great Spanish Classes – Had a great experience taking my Intro. to Spanish @ Spanish Horizons. It was a small and interactive class with lots of different visual/auditory stimuli. The teacher was very experienced and catered to our unique learning styles. I highly recommend taking Spanish classes here. Very professional and courteous staff.
an OK spanish class – This seemed to be just a run of the mill, traditional spanish class. Our teacher was nice, but did not seem to have a good command of the english language. I think this is necessary because as adult learners, we need to know how things compare to our own language.
Great school – Good teachers, friendly environment, flexible schedules and small classes.
I studied spanish in college, in mexico and in spain. Spanish Horizons is my favorite place.
Arturo is a great teacher.
Steady Progress – I just had a great experience in my first Spanish course since High School. My instructor was awesome and I made solid progress each week. The text book and assignements kept me focused and on track. I am very happy with my choice. I encourage others interested in learning Spanish to check out Spanish Horizons.
Me Gusto Mi Clase de Español – I am really enjoying taking Spanish classes here. My teacher (Mabell) is awesome! She is very patient and spends extra time before and after classes to answer my questions. Mabell has been very thoughtful and accomodating to me. I know everyone in the class is very happy to have her as an instructor. I know I have learned a lot and am excited to join the next level. I highly recommend Spanish Horizons.
Great Place to Learn Spanish – I have just finished my 8th week in the Intro. to Spanish course and have re-enrolled in Spanish I. I have made great progress in learning Spanish. The curriculum and instructors are excellent. In fact, my instructor was a language professor in Spain. The class was very structured and well organized. Kind of reminded me of a college course without the pressure. I have outside assignments that keep me on tract and focused. Best of all they are not graded and you do not have to buy any extra books. This place is great for learning Spanish.
Old Doctor Speaking Spanish – It has been frustrating trying to communicate with my young Spanish speaking patients. I tried the audio tapes. I had a private tutor. I was motivated but just needed some stimulus. I made some calls, visited a few schools, did the homework, and decided to sign up here.
After a few months I was able to interact more confidently with my patients. I still need a lot more practice, but I finally enjoy learning the language. I could not have done this without my instructors. They had a great knowledge base and years of experience. They taught me the basic foundations and provided unique examples. They made sure I completely understood each concept before moving on. The resources provided also allowed me to practice on my own time.
I never thought I would learn a new language at this stage in my life. My practice moves more efficiently and will continue to grow through new referrals by my "Spanish Speaking" clients. I have been very happy with my classes, instructors, administrative staff, and the facility. I justt wish I would have known about Spanish Horizons earlier!
