Glorified version Pizza Hut – I used to love this place. Once upon a time they had great service and high quality food, but that was a long time ago. As a chain, it seems like they are going so far downhill that they have become a cheap version of Pizza Hut with their Meat-sa Pizza Supremo. I have visited several CPK locations in and around Chicago, but none are as bad as the one on North and Sheffield. Despite the fact that the bread was dryer than my 80-year old grandmother’s pudenda, I was almost enjoying my experience until one of the managers was obnoxiously talking down to the employees so loudly that I could hear it at my table. When the employees weren’t being yelled at, there were screaming children running a muck throughout the entire restaurant. One of them was even running back behind the bar. That’s when I noticed that the manager who was fondling his own ponytail didn’t wash his hands before touching our food. Suddenly I wasn’t very hungry anymore.

Founded in Beverly Hills in 1985, these eateries with the trademark yellow, black and white color scheme have spread nationwide. The decor consists of simple wood and glass with roomy black leather booths. The thin-crust pizzas come with innovative toppings from Asia, Latin America and the Southwest; signature pizzas like the Original BBQ Chicken and Jamaican Jerk Chicken compete with old standbys like pepperoni and traditional cheese. Pastas, salads, soups and sandwiches round out the menu.
A very good dining experience! – Had lunch there on Mar 15, 08 with my wife. We ordered a variety of items from the menu and all were excellent. The wait staff and management team were very friendly and outgoing and provided top-notch service. We were also very pleased with the cleanliness of the restaurant. We would definitely eat there again and would recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants good food in a casual atmosphere.
Ambience Much Better than the Pizza – Husband & I didn't like their pizza. (Maybe due to open hearth cooking method?) Disliked texture of crust. (Don't remember why -- think the crust was either too chewy or hard). Not much cheese. If you like globs of hot gooey cheese, go someplace else. As for atmosphere, it's much better than the majority of pizzarias. (I gave it 5 for ambience because compared to everything from diners to fine restaurants it falls in middle). But compared to ambience at other pizzarias ranging from Pizza Hut (noisy kids) and Papa John's (hard seating, too brightly lit) to a quaint casual Italian restaurant that serves pizza, then the ambience would be 8). It's a large, airy room. You see the pizzas go into the hearth. The brick hearth and colors used and not-too-bright lighting make for an inviting atmosphere.
