Good Taste - Terrible Food Poisoning – The food tasted good, I had the chicken panang and left a nice 30% tip because of the service. The next I was holding my stomach in pain. I got the worst food poisoning I've ever had in my life. Based on the great reviews I wouldn't have thought that food poisoning would be an issue, but boy was I wrong. I am reporting this to the health department, and I'll be sure to let them know when I'm in the area.‎

A taste of the real deal – I spent a month in Thailand with so many of my who were there for a few years. Even they can't believe how authentic this Thai food is! You won't be disappointed!

Don't Believe the Naysayers, This is The Best Thai Food in Austin! – For all those pampered, four-star frat/sorority naysers out there, get over your prejudice and look at the facts: the food is inexpensive (but you wouldn't care, as spoiled as you are), the food tastes excellent, and the waiters are very helpful and conversational. My girlfriend and I eat here on occasion (we don't eat out often), but when we do, we are NEVER disappointed. I've been going to Thai Tara for over a year now (maybe 8-9 times), and all I can say is that the food is excellent for the price. I've never paid more than $30 for two, and that included drinks and an appetizer. There is a patio out back for those who want to smoke, and the interior is subtly elegant. Parking is located around the back of the store, and there is usually a place free. It is true that you might have to wait for the chefs to cook your food during a dinner rush, but be assured it will be prepared to perfection. Come ready with a friend/partner and some conversation while you wait, and the food will surely be worth your wait. If you are looking for quick eats, go to McDonalds.

Pad Kee Mao is awesome – So I have been going here for the last few years and very rarely had any problems with the service. I do not go as often as I used to b/c I moved and am not as close. Parking can be a pain in the rear, there are a few spots behind the restaurant and parking meters up and down the streets....there are some pay lots but I avoid those even it there is a bit of a walk. I have tried most of their menu items over the years and they were all very good. I especially liked the larb and of course the Pad Kee Mao...(shrimp and pork are my favorites). I like the tamarind sauce that comes with the spring rolls too. The staff is always friendly and they seem to know us from our previous visits. I think we may have waited an unusually long time for our food once or twice but I think there was a shortage of staff on those occasions. Anyway, I think their Pad Kee Mao is the best in Austin and I would go there even if I had terrible service, or I would just get it to go. I like this place and I will continue to go there. They are having their 5th anniversary on Sat and I will be there.

I gave it a try and I won't ever be compelled to go back. – I have been driving by Thai Tara every day for over two years years. I have always wanted to give it a try. I decided to get some of my coworkers in on it so that we could all get a dish and try each others. I always go to Madam Ma'ams by Westgate Shopping Center (I specify because madam Ma'ams on Guadalupe is just not as good as Westgate) and I mostly always order the Musman, my favorite. I thought if I liked the musman here, I would come back to try something different with my boyfriend. Well at Thai Tara, the musman was more like a soup, and the flavor was just lacking a little. The musman curry is supposed to be a little soupy, I know this, but it was just too runny. The whole dish was just barely okay. My friend got the Pad Thai and just like the other dish, we couldn't quite put our finger on it, but it too was just okay. These are pretty simple staple dishes at every Thai restaurant, shouldn't they be made well? I won't be going back. I didn't hate it, sure the people were nice enough, the four of us ate (no drinks) for under forty bucks, and even though it is so convenient for me to go there, I wont go back.

Underwhelming! – The service was very basic here...I also hated my entree which was "Party with a Mermaid" My friend's ordered other things which were pretty good though....I just wasn't too sold on the meal or the service...the ambiance is also very basic....

Not recommended – No good parking. You'll probably have to pay $5 to park next door. Looooong wait. Horrible customer service. Ok food, but not worth the wait. Listen to the other reviewers, there's a reason there are so many complaints.

thai home cooking – Great waitresses, good food. Love the Yam Nua. Always enjoy my meals here. The food reminds me of meals I've enjoyed in Thailand.

Avoid. no, seriously avoid it. – Bad customer service. We were not rude at all. In fact, we had several conversations with the waiter while we were waiting forever for the food. Food was ok, definitely tasted better. Waiter started to get rude and ignore us after we were waiting for our food close to an hour. I love thai food and I've eaten at almost every Austin thai restaurant and this is one of my least favorite (regardless of the service). Plus the parking is horrible. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE – Just horrible. We waited forever for someone to realize we were waiting for a table. I was forewarned about the service and snail like service, but I thought that comment was a joke. It wasn't sadly enough. It took about 15 minutes to be acknowledged in the waiting area(there were only 3 of us), it took about 15 minutes to get water, it took another 15 minutes to place our order. I am not even kidding. I don't know why or how they stay in business. Must be tourists. Food was average. Service, what service? They weren't busy, they were steady, and I saw ample waitstaff, so there's no excuse.
