Susina is a charming French bakery with fantastic deserts and sandwiches. The jazz soundtrack helps the locals, cops, and screenwriters mingle late into the night. The ham and cheese croissant and the bread pudding are both delicious. They assemble picnic baskets, which are great to take to the Hollywood Bowl. Parking in the back if you can find it.
The employees here are so friendly and helpful. They have an enormous selection of pastries, cookies and cakes. They open late for your late night cravings. I love their carrot cake and coconut cake. Full cakes and slices available.
Beautiful baked goods in a lovely setting. Susina's croissants, cakes and flaky pastries are simple and really, really delicious.
Whether it's lavish birthday cakes bedecked with ribbons of perfectly curled frosting or brunch spots for workaholics who can't part with their laptops, this Mid-City bakery has you covered.
Used to be Good – Susina now serves breakfast. STOP! Go back to what you did well. Pastries. The female manager is one of the most sour personalities I've come across. She makes it seem as she's doing you a favor by waiting on you. No, I've gone elsewhere and it seems so have others. Too bad, it could have been so good.
Susina - Has great pastries but needs revamped staff – Pastries and Food are really great here, but the staffs attempts to be social and complimentary fall very flat. Jenna, the owner is great, but may need to go back to the drawing board with staff training. Can't have a GM that makes off the wall comments in an attempt to be complementary. (Staff seems too comfortable in their job) Not good....
Simply YUM. – Want a great spot for coffee, salad and then a killer cake? This is your spot. Yummy creations of all kinds can be found here, from chocolate covered stawberries to cake to a savory lunch.
Wi Fi is free, i think, and there are always a bunch of white people here. It's just feels very yuppie-ish, in a good way, i guess?
Do It – Go to the counter and request a slice of the Berry Blossom Cake. Sit down in their french-inspired cafe and take a bite. You’re welcome.
Best Wedding Cake!! – Jenna is great to work with--she's down-to-earth, really nice, polite, and courteous without any of the snobbiness that some other bakeries have. Most importantly, she seems to be passionate about baking and you can tell by trying one of her cakes! We ordered 2 Bear (chocolate) cakes and one Berry Blossom cake for our wedding. The cost of a 3-tiered cake exceeded what we budgeted for the wedding cake, but Jenna helped to accomodate our budget by making them 3 separate cakes then decorating them w/ flowers--it worked out great! The cakes are to die for--made with fresh whipped cream and berries and meringue... My mouth waters just thinking about it. The only thing we regret is not taking a big chunk of the wedding cake with us after the wedding!
Best little Cafe in town – I have coming here for a couple of years now. The banana cream pie, fruit bowls, Quiches tarts are all fabulous! I had them make my wedding cake recently and everything looked so good they ended up making my wedding cake, grooms cake and an extra cake and assortment of cookies for the reception!
My husband and I try new places all the time and NOTHING compares to Susina as far as the quality of food and ambiance... REALLY! Sweet lady Jane is a joke compared to Susina- rude service, not a lot of choices, and the last time I was there they screwed up two orders in a row at pickup time! I will never cheat on Susina again!
LOVE LOVE THE PANINI'S – I love their chicken grilled panini's. They are the best chicken sandwiches out there. A must for anyone that goes to Susina's !! I try to order them at least once a week !! Yummy !!
Selection was a little limited – The place is cute but their display case came short to me...I was expecting more cakes/pastries to select from. We drove to the westside just to eat here but we ended up across the street at Lulu's instead. Susina's salad/sandwich menu is very limited...only go here if you're craving for something sweet and or wanting a light snack.
Great Desserts, BUT THE MOST TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! – Now this is maddening, I go to a place because I hear they serve great desserts and that it is a must try. Too bad I felt like I was bothering the staff to get some service. Because we know that if I write the good you won't absorb the bad -- so I will put the bad first and you can read the good last...
A friend and I went to get a slice a cake and seemed to have had stood at the counter for 10 mins unacknowledged. The crazy thing was that there were two people(women)behind the counter seeming to be doing nothing but chatting with each other and wondering why the LAPD was there, looked us dead in the face and still chose not to help us. It took us asking the young man where exactly do we order, and then he bringing it to their attention that we were standing there waiting -- and their reply being "yes we know"(ya think they may have whispered that they were clearly ignoring us) Anyways the punk rock looking young lady finally decided to help unenthusiastically help us...She asked what I like and I told what I wanted and that I wanted it to go -- because she asked if I wanted it to go or not -- she gets the cake and then ask me after did I want it to go again??? Hello are we not only ignoring but deaf while assisting??? I also asked for cookies now - this is where I am most intrigued if this is a normal practice for them -- I tell you the size and say I would like an assortment and then you counter people decide what that entails -- What if I was allergic to nuts or hated chocolate??? I would've be SOOL because she made it her business to put whatever in the box, if I hadn't caught it in time I would've had a box of stuff I know I wouldn't have liked. Guess what I did wind up with a whole bunch of stuff I don't like -- just checked the box -- Let's just say the evening ended with me asking for the owners info...GOODS the Berry Blossom Cake was GREAT!! Too bad I was concerned more about my bad experience than how the cake tasted....So Sad Susina - I do Love cake!!
heavenly baked goods – This is an adorable hang out place. The decor is cute and warm. The cakes are incredibly delicious. You can't go wrong with any of your choices. I haven't tried the paninis but the quiche is pretty darn good. Wash it down with one of their delicious drinks. I'd recommend the Chai tea.
