Don't go expecting thai – Half the menu is taken up with Chinese and Japanese restaurant standards. The thai selection is limited, focusing mainly on mild dishes with american ingredients. Green peppers are plentiful but chiles and lemongrass are nowhere to be seen on this menu. Also notably missing are any thai salads, though it is consistent with the general theme of the menu in avoiding any strong flavors.
It's really a shame they went with the approach they did. Hopefully someday someone will open a more authentic thai restaurant in the area, but for now it looks like we still have to drive into Minneapolis or St. Paul
worth a try – With relatively little variety in the area, this is a welcome change from the chain restaurants that abound in the suburbs. I find Thai cooking much more flavorful than other types of Asian food, and Bangkok doesn't disappoint. It is definitely more authentic than some of the better-known Thai spots in the city. It does have Chines standbys for the less adventurous palates. I had the bangkok noodles with chicken--very fresh and was not drowned or overpowered by sauce the way chinese food typically is. My companion had a curried version of pad thai that had a subtle curry flavor and was a very good twist on the Thai classic. We also had pineapple fried rice which was tasty and, most importantly, not greasy.
Prices are reasonable, give it a try.
Minnesota-spicy – It's a combination of Thai and Japanese (tempura is served) in this formerly Grazzi space. We ordered the Phad Thai noodles and a Panang Curry. Good sized platters. The Pad Thai was flavorful and a bit on the sweet side. The Curry was the blandest curry I've ever had in my life. For a Thai restaurant, they really need to spice it up a bit -- even in Minnesota.
