Looking for a deliciously fun time? Get Goosed! – I was referred to Absoluti Goosed on S. Grand Ave. by my straight sister. (I'm a mature Dyke, recently returning to St. Louis via Oakland, CA). We recently went to "the Goose" together after having dinner in the area. It was not the semi-upscale place I had imagined. However, the drinks were wonderful (and I'm persnickety!), the staff was very friendly, and our mixologist eagerly adjusted our second round of martini's when we told her they were'nt as robust in flavor as the first round. The atmosphere was very friendly. (Haven't tried the food yet.).
This scene seems best fitted for a mature or semi-sophisticated, but unpretentious crowd, 30+...there to enjoy interacting with people, more than to get wasted and dance the night away--with the music volume reflective of such. The drinks were excellent--of the calibre that encourages sipping, versus gulping. It's casual, but if you go dressed up, no one will think twice about it. Support this place, and I think you will see further attention to their decor in the future.
Worst Place In St Louis – I went there and the drinks sucked, as well as there bartender Samantha took money out of the cash register and put it in her pocket, Samantha was very pretentious , Robin was a bitch and they make the gay community look pathetic, South Grand has alot better places to go and hang out at,, Absoluti Goosed is not a good place....
Best Martinis in St. Louis – This place is great. It just got a new owner, so please disregard all previous bad reviews, they've really improved it. The drinks were always good but now the place looks better and the service is AWESOME!! They have so many martinis, I reccommend going with some friends, ordering several drinks and just splitting them all that way you can try more than one. My fave is the Almond Joy, its like the candy bar only so much better!!
Under New Management! Re-Opening in January 2009 – I've talked to the new owners. They are bringing the place back to its original format. Over 125 different signature drinks! Robin the bartender that had been there for years, making the best drinks in St. Louis is coming back too! I cannot wait for the door to re-open. I missed being Goosed!
Avoid this place at all cost! – So, I finally went to this place after a friends reccomendation about a year ago. I am not sure what she was raving about. The service was slow, the drink was bad and the staff was rude and seemed drugged out. I am also assuming they let the local homeless hang out at this place as well since there was a guy sleeping at the end of the bar. We left after complaining to our server, who seemed to care less. Hence the no tip! I left my friend a message asking her what the heck she was thinking about this place. She has yet to call back. I figure she is embarrased! I will not be going here again!
THIS PLACE IS AWFUL!!!!! – Not sure what happened in the last few months. Heard there was a new owner. Place has gone down hill quickly. Wouldn't waste my time here! They were out of everything my party wanted and the service was so slow I could have gone somewhere else and bought a drink and brought it back by the time I finally got one here. The new bartender with the bad blue eyeshadow is NOT a bartender but trying to play one. Seems like a misfire iwht the new ownership. Too bad....used to love this place. Won't go back, neither will my friends.
A Very Happy Hour – I recently moved to the area and conveniently enough I moved to Wyoming St. (which is the cross street for Goosed). I came across this groovy bar on this website and went one day to check it out, and it has been our Monday evening after-work, unwind hangout ever since. The eye-popping list of martinis and clever names assigned to each one make for a great conversation and relaxing atmosphere. The buffalo mozz sticks and the cheese bread are musts, especially at half price for happy hour. The service is prompt, helpful and always in great spirits. I will be there again tonight and invite whoever to join our Monday night martini group, at Goosed!
The Goose Martini Bar in STL is still the best – For several years under the old management there seemed to be alot of problems. Since Ms. Spear has taken sole ownership of the business alot has changed. Robin the little red-head behind the bar is still making the BEST martini's in St. Louis! The door guy Michael could use and attitude adjustment, but the rest of the newer staff is more friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I have taken several groups here over the 5 years they have been open, but always make sure to call ahead for a reservation for large parties. Compared to some sub par competitors that have opened in St. Louis recently, I would have to say that the Goose is still the best place for variety of menu and the quality of the drinks. They don?t use cheap liquor here and it shows!
Always a good time – I took a group of out-of-town friends (Chicagoans) and they absolutely raved about Absolutli Goosed. We had no problems getting in and finding seats, our waitress was fun and friendly, and we loved the atmosphere. the drinks were delicious and a good time was had by all.
Since then, I've been back several times and I still don't have a bad word to say about the place. I highly recommend it.
Very disappointed!! – I was very much looking forward to my visit, but immediately had a bad experience with the front door manager/attendant. Instead of saying, "Hi", our group of four (two couples) got "You have to wait outside". Eventually, he said we could wait at a smaller table while a table came available, but I had to about pull teeth out to get him to agree. The drinks are very good, but the service is incredibly bad, I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone. I honestly felt discriminated against because our group was not of the gay community. If I was the owner or manager, I would seriously consider employing another front door attendant and train my staff on much better customer service to all who choose to visit their location.
