Horrible customer service! – My girlfriend and I tried to make a reservation at this dump (based on reading reviews) the other day. Thank heaven the guy that answered the phone was a d**k. This prevented us from ruining our evening! I don't understand how you can operate a business with zero common sense. Save your $$$$ and pick up some 2 day old sushi at Kings....i'm sure it will be better than the crap they serve. Hopefully a Del Taco comes in and takes over the property.
Worst Service Ever – This had to be the worst experience ever. The waitresses would not clean up the table once the guest would leave. There were dirty napkins on our table which we had to place on the table next to us. We had order 2 plates of regular rolls. After a 2 hour wait, she shows up with 1 plate of regular rolls and 1 plate of hand rolls. We were told the long wait was because of a large party that was there and that the chef had to make almost a 1000 rolls for them. This was just not a good enough reason. The asian waitress didn't seem to care that she had screwed up our order and it was another 20 minute wait to get our new rolls. This place is just downright horrible. Don't go there unless you just want to get in a bad mood.
AVOID AVOID AVOID – Not one of, but the worst dining experience I have ever had. Not only was the food subpar, but the service would make anyone run. After I gave my AmEx the waitress claimed that my card wouldn't work (which is odd, because I checked on my phone and BofA said it was working fine). Then we preceded to go through 4 more credit cards, all "claimed" to be denied. But I never saw a denied receipt. Then when I asked for my card back, they refused until I went to the sleezy liquor store to use the ATM. After I went to the ATM with the credit card that was claimed to not work, but some how I got cash from the ATM, I came back with money. I asked several times to see the manager - who refused to talk with us. Then I went up to him to explain the situation. He rudely said several homophobic comments, of which I cant ever say on google they were so offense and derogatory. And then finally threatened to call the police. THIS IS NOT A GAY FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT. Instead it is a sleezy, disgusting, "restaurant" that every person in Denver should avoid. Especially when there are so many other good restaurants on the same street. And not to mention that the manager was swearing at us saying "I dont give a f***. Ill sleep fine tonight f*ggots. I am sure you want to f*** me. Ill call the f***ing cops on you." BUYER BEWARE!!!!
Health Dept Posting – When you see a Health Department violations sheet on the front door it's not a good sign. It got worse once we stepped in to look around and its empty...Run Away!
It's great, why is everyone complaining?? – I read the reviews and had to say that I've been coming here with my friends for about a million years, and we always have a great time. The food is great. I'm really not sure why people are complaining so much. I think they just expect it to be a five-star dining experience... but that's really not the point of the place. It's a trendy, but fairly cheap little lounge. It's a great place to relax, chat, and get a little tipsy before going dancing. It's really not unusual if your food to take 30 minutes to arrive, but so what? It's not a dinner place, it's a hang-out. If what you want is to arrive, eat your food, and leave (all under an hour,) go to Applebee's or something. If you go here, just chill out and chat with your friends, instead of checking your watch and criticizing the staff.
Longest Wait Time for a Meal Ever – I don't know how this restaurant stays in business. I neglected to check the reviews for this place until it was too late to change restaurants before a show and what a mistake that was! I have never waited so long for a meal to be served in my life and since there are only 4 items on the menu (with the exception of the sushi), none of which require even a small degree of expertise to prepare, I totally fail to understand why it took 45 minutes to serve our meals - even the sushi! There were only 2 other tables that ordered entrees, so that could not possibly be the excuse. The service was inattentive, the fish was dry and without character and even the bar tender was unable to get the simple martini order correct. Stay away!
Astonished, in a bad way – My girlfriends and I went in for dinner after looking up the menu online. Come to find out, their actual menu was not the same as the online menu, had far less choices. We were planning on using a $25 coupon, in fact it was the only reason we went. We were told we could not use it . When I asked to speak to a manager the waiter told me that he was not around, when I pressed him, he said "Let me see if I could find him". Eventually someone who looked like a cook came out who could barely speak English. When i told him the issue he literally WALKED AWAY and never came back! We waited 30 minutes and got so fed up, we paid the bill and walked out. Will never go there again.
Horrible. I mean horrible service July 30 09 – Just went to Opal for the 2nd time on July 29th 09. Ordered 2 drinks that took 20 mins to arrive. Ordered some sushi and oysters. 1 order of Sushi came out before our drinks...after waiting 50 mins, we cancelled our order and left...with a 47 cent tip!
Who owns this place? Do they read these reviews? If you go, go at 4 when nobody is there and I imagine you'll get your food in a reasonable amount of time. I can't believe this place is still in business. Oh, and the bathrooms....disgusting. Do they ever clean them? The city needs to insect this place.
