Great Happy Hour – Drinks are good, and the food is great! I had the happy hour greek salad, it was huge and only $5! They make their own pies (they have a display case in the entry) and it was good (Peach)!
Good Food, So-So Service – I've been wanting to try Wild Mountain Cafe for some time so I took the opportunity when a friend from out of town came for a visit. I liked the decor and homey feeling and I must admit that the pesto chicken sandwich was delicious and an excellenet price.
However, we felt as if the server was disinterested in us. She asked us what we wanted which was fine but she read the specials to other patrons and not to us. She never stopped by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal and she never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. At the end of our meal, she did not ask us if we wanted dessert either and it seemed like she was tryihg to rush us out of there. Keep in mind that it was not busy and there were plenty of empty tables.
In the end, though the food was very good, I will not be returning.
hit and miss – We love their fried chicken and their chile rellenos, but the last few times we've been here they seem so disinterested in us as customers and we had to wave them down whenever we needed something. The servers seem bored. Twice they took our reservation but didn't hold it. Once they had given it away to someone about two minutes before we arrived (on time, I might add.)
We might give them a try in a year or so, but right now, they are off our list.
Best Cinnamon rolls in Seattle – Very comfortable homey place to eat, only the food is ten times better than what I cook at home. Large portions, tasty unpretentious meals, made with fresh local produce. You will never leave hungry. You have to wait to get in for breakfast, but it's worth it just to sink your teeth into the huge cinnamon rolls brought warm to your table. I always get the Eggs Benedict which is perfect every time. The Bloody Mary's are great as well. Hard working cook staff put a lot of care into the dishes.
I guess brunch is better – Went to WMC last month for dinner with friends for the first time. The atmosphere is homey and nice, the service, drinks were all good. I was underwhelmed by the food. I had the fried chicken and a chocolate cake. The chicken was average and the cake was dry. Our friends that suggested the restaurant could see our disappointment and kept saying how good brunch was there and that it was always packed on Sunday mornings. It definitely wasn't packed there on our Friday night and my conclusion is that it's because of a mediocre dinner list.
Bring your friends! – Great place! Lovely homey atmosphere! I'm a big fan of the its da bomb breakfast burrito. I take everyone I know here - everone likes it - it's very homey and very green. One of my favorite places in Seattle. One of the few places in this town that isn't overrated. (Mae's Phinney Ridge Cafe for instance). I have to say though that I mostly go there for breakfast.
Editorial Review by Jena Vuylsteke – A former Crown Hill home transformed into an environmentally friendly comfort food cafe.
Great food in a fun and comfortable, homey atmosphere – If you want to downright comfort food, come here. The food is awesome and the service, often hilarious! Wild Mountain resides in an old concrete house in the Crown Hill neighborhood. The owners remodeled it themselves using primarily recycled materials. Still you get the impression everything is new! The food is very good and they love kids, treating them very very well. The only thing that would make this place better would be a chicken fried steak!
most reliable breakfast spot – If a friend has not been here, we invite them to breakfast with us. I love the Surefire Thing, my husband likes the Florentia. They have good toast, great coffee, awesome cinnamon rolls, and the best service in Greater Ballard. And the framed notecard in the ladies room cracks me up!
don't keep driving by – I love this place! Wild Mountain is perfect for Sunday breakfast, for comfort food for dinner, or for their pies anytime. Their cinnamon buns are the best I've ever tasted, only rivaled by the mac 'n' cheese that is to die for. And the women who run this place just rock.
