Relaxing and Intimate but Fun – Chefs Station is a fascinating restaurant find. Any time I'm in the Evanston area I plan to dine at Chefs Station. To start with I like to eat at places that are owned by an owner in attendance, someone who cares makes and of all places Chefs Station's owner cares about everything including my satisfaction. The decor is funky because it was all found in an alley, donated or inherited! This place opened on a shoe string with no "Fancy Dan" with big bucks to throw around. The food is gourmet to say the least. Chef Romero, a hard working, inventive immigrant from Guatemala directs his kitchen like a Hollywood director. The service is smooth with impeccable timing for course delivery. The wine list is extensive. And the waiters know just which wine to suggest... if they get stuck owner Peter Mills is the Sommelier par excellence! High quality gourmet food, great wine and a caring owner and staff. This cannot be beat at prices that look cheap compared to the downtown tourist traps. Check Please! has made this place famous.

Unique cusine with its own Taste! – This cusine shows the chacter of owner. Friendly owner is welcoming at you at the door. Every weekend, there are special selection of food which surprises even the regular customer.

Decoration can be improved but that is what's unique about this place. Quality of food and variety of food is exceptional. It shows the owner's devotion and challenging spirit to how creative food can be. Every vist I am so impressed with how the chef come up with new innovative dish.

Even if the dish is fancy and creative as other top rated restaurant. they like to keep it low key to make it more casual dining. It seems to reflect the chracter of owner. Top quality food can be served with out snobish ambience/service.

I think it is better than most of those top rated $$$$$ resturant in Chicago.

Comfortable atmosphere and ambitious cuisine make this Evanston favorite worth a stop. – In Short
Though it sits directly under the Davis Metra stop, noise isn't a problem at this Evanston standby, whose low-lit interior is a pleasant spot for a romantic meal. Blue leather director's chairs, textured blue walls and wood paneling soothe the senses. The updated American menu has serious aspirations, with dishes like classic, simple goat cheese and pistachio salad, angel hair pasta with peppery roasted tomato sauce, and meaty, flaky pan-roasted sea bass with grilled corn and bean salad.

Nice setting, decent food! – The food was pretty good, but not great! However, my wife really enjoyed her meal. The prices are fair. Overall, it was a good experience and I would probably return.

Request the Chef's Special Fillet. – It may not be on the menu, but ask your waiter for the Chef's special fillet. He usually keeps a few hidden away for special occasions. It's the best steak in town. Especially with his mushroom sauce!
