Reviews for Margarita European Inn

Lodging – This is a charming European Inn located just to the west of the downtown Evanston shopping area. It is older but that just adds to the charm. Yes, as the other reviewer stated it does take time for the hot water in the showers but that's also part of the charm. If you're looking for an American hotel with all the newness and amenities, this is not the place, but if you want to step back in history this is the place. The rooms are adequate, the tvs are older but there are lovely rooms to lounge in and read, knit, relax, listen to some great music. There was old fashioned candies and delightful cookies available at night and a lovely light European flavor breakfast in the morning along with fresh fruit to take. It is older and some things are worn, but again, that's part of the charm. Some things could use cleaning, like the ceiling fans and the shelves in the lovely oak surrounded library and the stairwells need work but it's old ... again, part of the charm. We will definitely stay here again.

Disappointing, Basic Accommodation, No Usual B&B Extras. – I am a frequent B&B guest, in all parts of the country. This is the most basic, absolutely NOT worth the money. The rooms are unpretentious, the hot water takes about 15 minutes to warm up, the cold breakfast is Motel 6 quality. It's a shame as the building is charming. But the management spends nothing to make your visit memorable so you leave vowing never to return.

European elegance in the heart of the Midwest. – The Scene
This inn began its life in 1915 as a home for young working women. It is acclaimed for its striking architectural touches, such as the arched windows on the main floor. They are located one level above the street and carry the eye skyward, toward a stone railing encircling the rooftop. The pale stone of the building is complemented by crisp white trim. Today, this property provides comfortable accommodations in classic B&B style.

The Details
The sleeping rooms are a bit on the small side, furnished with brass bedsteads, floral prints and dark woods. But guests probably won't spend a lot of time hiding out, as the real focus here is on the common areas, including the Grand Parlor and the generously stocked formal English Library. Travelers stay here for both the chance to get away and to visit local historical attractions, such as the Grosse Point Lighthouse and the home of suffragette Frances E. Willard.
