This world bazaar offers goods gleaned from the savviest of travelers. – The Scene
This largely volunteer-run shop showcases the crafts of Third World countries. Find shelves and shelves of woodwork, sculpture and hand-woven goods, all arranged according to country of origin. Cards that describe the countries' cultures and piped-in indigenous music put you in a traveling state of mind. There's so much to see in this tight space that things can get a little cluttered, but it all adds to the foreign market-like atmosphere.
Ceramics from Peru, soapstone from India, and polished stones from Pakistan are clearly not mass-marketed. These unique treasures fly off the shelves fast. If you like that hand-carved elephant from Bangladesh or that kisii stone chess set from Kenya, you better snatch them up. Despite the resulting nonstop ruckus, kids get a kick out of playing exotic percussion and string instruments found at the front of the store.
