We've been going to this restaurant for years and finally decided to be last one. They serve you once you sit onion. basil & sampl of goat cheese that you don't order but you have to pay for it. The owner doesn't owner his gift card because it's more than year old when his gift card doesn't have expiration date. The kabon was too greasy that I had to place a paper napkin under to be able to eat it. The server never came to check on us for water or anything once our order was placed, not to mention the owner has an atitude problem. It's sad as it was one of our favourite for years. Don't recommend unless you take care of what I wrote once you step in the restaurant.
Horrible owner cheats customers – As many reviews already suggest, this place has a horrible owner and consequently the whole experience is tainted. We went there for the first and the last time.
Inconsistent quality. Rude owner. – The first time the food was hot and tasty. Next time, the rice was cold and the kabobs were leathery. To top it all, the owner is rude, needs an attitude tune-up. TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING!
disappointing – Quality of food was about 2 stars. The meat, keubedeh and barg was not fresh and the rice was dry. The owner was very friendly to a man speaking farsi and in no rush while we were waiting to pay but not very cordial to my husband and I. The busboy was polite and tried to be helpful but pick up our glasses with his fingers inside the glass, which is a health code violation, and proceded to serve food without washing his hands. Disturbing.
I've had a lot of excellent Iranian food in so. cal. with superb service. Can't say enough how disappointed we were. We wont be back or recommend.
Best Persian I've found in Oregon – The menu is extensive. Even though the place is known as the Kabob House, you can find many polows. They have a dessert menu that extends past the usual baklava. That's definitely a plus. The rice isn't overly greasy but their meat is the truly the star of the dishes. Their kabob barg reminds me of the kind my own family makes.
The atmosphere is friendly and family-oriented. It's a well-lit place and I couldn't imagine going there for a romantic dinner. Also, the owner plays fashion television on the tv. This is significant for me because in my stays in Iran, that was all we watched. However, I could see how some would be annoyed by it.
As to the owner? After reading some of the reviews I was expecting a scowling Attila the Hun. Instead, the man was polite, charming and even made a couple of jokes.
The only con I can think of would be that, at about $14 a plate, the menu is a bit pricey.
Happy And Full – This truly is the best Persian food in town .. It is there custom to provide the onion and basil with feta and pita .. Very yummy. They are quiet but the food speaks. If anyone was unhappy just do not go there and there customs are different then ours which make it a nice experience. I have been going there for almost 5 years and me and my husband LOVE it and it has never let us down with taste or Persian hospitality. I just had it tonight and again I am very happy. They has tons of business I have been there on many days and nights that it is packed and then on the days that are not we treasure it!
Happy and full; In Lake Oswego Oregon
Amazing Food, Terrible Service – I love the food at Kabob House but I have been disapointed with the services time and again. The owner is extremely rude and disrespectful, refusing to greet customers, take orders in a timely fashion, or accomodate the smallest of requests. Hardly do the wait staff refill your water during a meal or come back after dropping off your food to see if there is anything else you need. The owner once sighed at me when he brough the bill (about 45 minutes after we had sat there with empty plates and water glasses, clearly done with our meal) when I asked if we could have a deser. The worst part about this is that if he knows the customers, he is very nice to them, which in contrasts makes his crass behaviour towards strangers even less appealing. I am an Iranian woman in my late twenties and I get terrible service. My parents get great service because the owner knows them. Clearly, this is not the proper way to run a business.
Best Lamb Shank & Barg Kabob! – If you are looking for a delicious meal this is the place! Kabob house is primarily known for their kabobs but noone has mentioned they have the BEST lamb shank and lima bean rice. As an Iranian cook myself, I am very picky when it comes Persian food. I can say with full confidence Kabob house has the best lamb, Ghormeh Sabzi, Barg (filet mignon), and beef kabob. My family and I have been going to Kabob House since it opened and the owner has NEVER been rude to us. He is a freindly man that gives respect when he is given respect. Even if the service was awful I would stil go here because the food is great! I know good food and this place is on the top of my list. You won't be disspointed.
bad service and bland food – were the only people in the restaurant which is never a good sign. the server came over immediately and brought us some bread, a raw onion (not cut up at all) some basil and a couple tiny pieces of feta. a few minutes later he came back and took our order. though we were the only people in there he forgot to bring us drinks until our food arrived. we had to ask for them and he couldn't even remember what we had ordered. never offered to refill the drinks or bring us water either.
if that was the only negative I would have been able to overlook some of the service issues. the food was bland and pretty tasteless. so bland in fact, that i put some raw onion into the rice just to add some flavor. the server never once came to check in on us (keep in mind we were the only people in there) finally we asked for our check and he had us come to the counter where he jotted down what we ordered on a post-it note where he tried to overcharge for one of the dishes.
now I understand why we were the only people in there. won't be returning.
best of its type – Exceeded my expectations for a middle-eastern grilled-meat restaurant, or for that matter, any place that serves grilled-type dishes. I honestly don't know how they can make a profit serving such high-quality meats for this cheap. Their meat is generally lean and very tender. Try out their refreshing yogurt drink on a warm summery day.
