A family-friendly chain offering creative variations on familiar Cajun standbys in a casual setting. – In Short
This namesake chain of prolific Louisiana restaurateur Al Copeland has spread quickly since its 1983 opening. The Southern-charmed interior is a plantation setting with rich wood trim against warm-colored walls. Office mates stop in for quick lunches, but families take advantage of the reasonably priced kids menu at dinner. Copeland's wide-ranging menu has traditional fare like hamburgers and chicken melts, but is known for Creole and Cajun dishes such as eggplant pirogue and blackened chicken.
The worst restaurant meal and service I have ever had. Period. – I chose Copeland's for my family birthday dinner. We arrived at 6. We were seated at 6. The waiter came over at 6:20 to take a drink order and it went down hill from there. By the time we got our dinner at 7:30 half the dinners were cold. Mine had to be sent back because it set under lights for so long it was cold on the inside. The waiter had to be found on several occassions just to get drink refills and when ordered we didn't get for 20 minutes. Being a birthday dinner, you'd expect the waiter to ask if anyone wanted desert. Finally we again went in search of the waiter for the check. The worst birthday dinner possible.
