Oh man, the Piaya for 2.... – ...is amazing with a bottle of sangria- get it with scallops, shrimp, clams, more+. Just phenomenol. Been to El Coqui twice- only reason to hang out in Kingston for me really, and haven't been disappointed. Planning on taking some friends coming up to visit here soon! The wife and myself took half our portion home with us after sheer gluttony...

Good food, great music on the weekends during the summer, small dance floor – I took my friends to El Coqui so they could experience Puerto Rican cuisine. All of us especially liked the mofongo and the pernil. Bobby (owner) is a gracious host and came over to talk with us. It was fortunate for us that we went at a time when the restaurant was not crowded, as it can sometimes get when there is a live band there. The dance floor gets crowded and space is limited, as people love to come for music from Los Tainos, Exit 19, Sonando, Carib del Sol, or even the DJ's. If you're lucky, you'll get to hear Bobby play the guiro (percussion instrument). He's so good at that! The art work on the walls is amazing. It's like being in an art gallery. The upstairs balcony can get hot and the air circulation up there is not so good, but it can be pleasant to sit outside in the summer or fall. There has recently been a changeover with some personnel so there may have been some gaps in quality of service or food, but generally speaking I've always enjoyed eating there and have appreciated having a place to hear excellent music and being able to dance salsa and merengue.

Bad customer Service and Food – I think that this restaurant has the worst Customer service and there food is not made by Puerto Ricans to be serving Puerto Rican foods. No taste like the real deal If made by mexicans.. Bob Bruno Likes to cut corners and thats why customer service is really bad, and he serves meat that is almostgoing bad. I should know I have an inside with the cooks ..DONT EAT THERE
