I was happy with the surgery but contrarily to what they promised, I needed glasses again three years later. Also they promised that their check-ups in the future would be free, which was not technically true. (They should include in the fine-print that they are free as long as you have health insurance and they can charge them for it.) I live overseas now and every time I go back for a check-up is $100!!!
Park Avenue Lasek's staff is really professional and awesome. I just graduated from their eye treatment program. For years I'd talked about getting lasek done, but I would always use the excuse that it was expensive (It cost me 5k for both eyes). But the staff their advised me to fill out the form for CareCredit, a medical credit card. My monthly payments are only $114 per month for 5 years (I can always pre pay off the balance). My vision went from 20/400 to 20/20. I'm so happy to be able to do normal physical activities and exercises. They give you excellent instructions and care both pre op and post op. I definitely recommend this place for anyone going to have lasek. They give the best care and you get what you pay for.
I waited a bit over three and a half months to post with a final verdict and I can easily say I am really glad to have chosen to have my eyes corrected here(after all, how many times will I be able to say that in the future! lol). The staff at Park Avenue Lasek were all really friendly, relaxed and professional. I had absolutely no pressure at all into getting any specific procedure done and they made sure I was a proper candidate and that I understood the process very well before I decided to go through with it all. They were extremely helpful with every step of the process, answered any questions I had and although they were a bit strict with us taking the precautions necessary afterwards, it has been well worth the result. They were also extremely flexible when it came to medical insurance and helped to make sure I got the best coverage possible for my medications. After 1 week, I went from seeing 20/80(had only 1 eye corrected) to 20/25. After two months, I have got 20/15 vision! I have absolutely no side effects like dryness or pain at all(at this point). Can't be more happy about that. It's been a pleasant experience and I would definitely reccomend Dr Chynn and his staff. Although Lasek is a bit more pricey than the traditional Lasik option, it's well worth the safety and the overall better result.
Dr Chynn is amazingly nice and THE very best Doctor in NYC!
I just met him today and he has been so gracious with me, along with all his staff!
This was personally a very hard decision for me as I am very sensitive about my eye condition and he has been the greatest at making me feel at ease.
Very good genuine person! I definitely recommend him to anyone! His staff is awesome too!
Park Avenue Laser Vision was the third office I visited after I decided to get laser corrective surgery. First, your first visit is to make sure you are a good candidate for this type of laser surgery. Best part? No need to dilate my pupils! What a relief after EVERY place I’ve been to before insisted it was necessary, especially since these visits were right before work. Second, whether speaking to a fellow or the front desk, everyone was educated enough to answer all my questions. Third, when it comes to payments there is no Used Car salesmen techniques. WYSIWYG at this place.
Post-op review will be posted in the coming weeks.
I actually contacted Park Avenue Lasek by accident for a different eye procedure and I'm so glad I came across them! I ended up getting the procedure done elsewhere since Dr. Chynn was out of town, but then decided to move forward with getting laser eye surgery done here.
Dr. Chynn and his staff know what they're talking about. Period. Every question I've asked has been met with nothing but professionalism and a genuine desire for me to have all the info I need. All the staff members are friendly and I personally love Dr. Chynn. People may not get his sense of humor and be offended, etc. but I actually love it and think he's super funny, which helped alleviate any anxiety I may have had about the procedure. He is very efficient and as a result, doesn't beat around the bush, which I definitely appreciate.
p.s. What sealed the deal for me was the fact that Dr. Chynn PERFECTED this process. I mean, why go anywhere else when you can go directly to the person who perfected it? He does the surgery in a room that has glass walls, so that anyone walking outside can see it as well. Talk about super confident! That's what I would want from any doctor doing a serious procedure on me.
I really want to express how grateful I feel for Dr. Chynn and all the rest of his administrative and medical staff. I arrived to his clinic to start my fellowship 2 years ago, I only barely spoke the English language, and I am an ophthalmologist who came to the United States from my private practice in Bolivia. Though I could have come through the SF Match, I didn’t so that I could take advantage of a more flexible, part-time schedule to take care of my kids. My first 3 months were a very hard challenge for me, I needed to improve my communication skills and I was charged many tasks and responsibilities since the early beginning. I don’t regret about this since it made me a really self confident, strong person and an excellent clinician with my patients.
All the people around me were very nice and collaborative. They were always able to help and clarify most of my curiosities and ignorance. The clinical experienced acquired with Dr. Chynn is invaluable. He is a very smart and demanding person (in fact, sometimes very intimidating) but this is the way he is. It took me some time to discover the real value of Dr. Chynn and that great person he is.
Now that I left I really realize how much I will miss this place. Dr. Chynn, Dr. Puri, Dr. Almeida, my dear Liz and all the rest of the staff… THANK YOU VERY MUCH for everything.Dr. Patricia Villarroel (Dr. "V")Refractive Fellow
After finding out the pain associated with prk and cornea-cutting LASIK, I came across Dr. Emil Chynn’s practice, Park Avenue Safe Sight in Manhattan. It wasn’t just that Dr. Chynn is the only practice in NYC to perform the non cutting LASEK procedure, but also that some of his office staff had the procedure done them self. Surprising to learn, Dr. Chynn actually underwent LASIK 13 years ago, and thanks to his personal experience he makes sure that all patients are as comfortable as possible. Park Ave LASEK is the one and only center in NY that offers Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for nervous patients like me. I brought in two friends to watch my surgery and just for that I was given the laughing gas for free! I saved $100 for the cost of the NO2. Take advantage of all the options and discounts that the office has to offer. My vision is better than 20/20!!
Park Ave LASEK ROCKS!!!!!!!
I've been doing a lot of research on laser vision correction over the years because I'm very particular on getting the best possible procedure for my eyes. I visited a handful of centers but each time I was let down by the kind of information that the centers provide. At several centers, I only got to meet with a technician even though I made an appointment with the doctor that they advertise excessively on their websites. Park Avenue SafeSight was a unique center that actually had MDs who are practicing ophthalmologist who were able to explain in depth the safe procedure that they offer. The doctor performed an impressive, comprehensive eye exam before Dr. Chynn himself came in to personally discuss my case intensively. This type of attentive care really impressed me and convinced me to choose Dr. Chynn over all other possibilities. It's been about 3 months since my surgery and I graduated last month with 20/15!
Cannot be happier!!! I have so many friends who had procedure done in this office. Some of them have not so high prescription. But I want to share one story. My friend Anna had extreme prescription. Nobody want to take responsibility for her surgery. She have done a lot of search. She almost lost her hope. After so many doctors tell you that they not going to help you, how would you feel? Any way she went to dr. Chynn office and he accepted her and tell her that he can help her because he is performing not regular LASIK procedure and he can operate on patients with really high prescription.
My friend was so happy. She went thru with a surgery and now she sees better then in glasses. And every time she sees a friend who is wearing glasses or contacts and want to get laser vision correction but scared, she always recommend dr. Chynn’s office!!!
