Overpriced and awful – Pizza was delivered cold, with a crust that was thin, but like cardboard. Skimpy toppings and apparently you need to specify that you want cheese on your pie, since ours came without. New bride says: If this is the best of Boston, I'll eat my pizza in Jersey." There's better pizza everywhere.
No big deal – I've eaten at the upper crust a few times and ordered delivery as well, and each time the pizza has been decent but the service has been poor. The staff are not very friendly, and everytime I have ordered delivery, it arrives late. I once ordered on a friday night, albeit a busy time, and the pizza hadn't arrived in nearly three hours! I canceled the order and called another pizzeria, which had a pizza at my doorstep twenty minutes later. If you want good pizza and good service, there are much better places in town.
Best Pizza in Boston – I love Pizza and Upper Crust is hands down the best pizza in Boston. Truly love their sauce. I usually just go in and get a slice but there are many great pie options as well as pizza on whole wheat.
Totally Overrated – I was so excited to try this pizza because we moved from NYC and haven't found a good pizza place. This is what people think is good pizza? It tasted like a warm pita bread with canned ingredients. It was rubbery and the crust was tasteless. I won't go back. Upper Crust is WAY overrated!
Best pizza in entire Boston area! – Mmmm! Thin crispy crust, fresh ingredients! This is what Boston has been missing! A bit expensive for pizza, but worth it. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Artsy, crispy thin-crust pies appropriate to eclectic Coolidge Corner. – The Scene
This laid-back, upscale pizza joint attracts a diverse, young clientele. By day, area students indulge in a slice while taking study breaks, while evening brings visitors from the nearby cinema stopping for a post-film snack. Patrons familiar with the original Beacon Hill location will enjoy the same speedy counter service at this offshoot, but will notice a slightly expanded menu and individual tables in contrast to the original's communal eating spaces.
Creative diners mix and match from an endless variety of gourmet toppings (arugula, baby clams, Canadian bacon), and the menu suggests several tantalizing combinations. The flavorful "white spinach" (spinach, garlic, mozzarella and feta with no tomato sauce) and the carnivore-friendly "state house" (hamburger, pepperoni and spicy Italian sausage) are both highlights. Gooey calzones and fresh Greek and Caesar salads round out the offerings.
Always go here when I'm in Coolidge Corner – We used to live in Coolidge Corner and I miss Upper Crust. The pizzas are huge with creative toppings. I love the lunch specials. The pizzas are pricey, but it's worth it to not get the usual bad pizza you find in Boston. I always go here when I'm in the neighborhood.
Amazing Pizza – Excellent pizza, the price is a little bit on the expensive side considering it's just pizza, but well worth it. It can get crowded here at times, so be aware.
Upper Crust=Amazing – Upper Crust is amazing! The slices may be a bit expensive, but they completely fill me up! I am so lucky on the nights I go there and see that the Slice of the Day is their Sliced Tomato, Basil and Mozarella. Delicious and totally worth the $3 something dollars.
If this is the Upper Crust... – ... I'd hate to see the Unwashed Masses. Generic, haute-ed up pizza with no trace of soul. The only thing Upper is the stratospheric prices: $14.25 for a plain 18 pie (!). Does the pizza quality justify the extra-high price? Not even close: the pizza is plain plebian, pricing notwithstanding.
OK for see and be seen posers, but not people accustomed to real pizza as served elsewhere in Boston (and New York and New Haven).
