Great Place – Great service, great food and very reasonable prices. Appreciate the quick service, both at lunch and early evening. The waitress and other staff were very flexible and gracious in assisting special dietary requests.
Great drinks, friendly atmosphere – Located across from Radio Cab Emanon Cafe is a great place to stop and get a drink. Easy parking and friendly staff, a neighborhood cafe with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. When the weather's great sit outdoors and soak in the sun!
Every neighborhood needs a cafe like EMANON! – Well...reviews from 2003-2005 aside...I've been to Emanon countless times after our group rides on Sauvie Island. Emanon is a small, cozy "Cheers" type cafe in the heart of NW Portland. Prices are very reasonable, the staff is helpful and friendly, the patrons are relaxed and up for a chat if you want one. The menu options are really well thought out for small establishment...my favorites are the mac and cheese (to die for), shrimp skewers, and the best French Toast I've ever had. My girlfriend swears by the wraps. If you're new to Portland, come by and introduce yourself, it's a great place to get started:))
Comfortable Cafe & Bar – Great cozy café & bar located between the bustle of the Pearl and NW 21st St. Great food and drinks. Portions are tasty and generous. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. An easy place to meet old friends and make new ones.
Worst dining experience I've ever had – I am sincerely shocked to find so many positive reviews here! I went to Emanon last Sunday afternoon in a group of 9. We'd called the day before to see if we should make a reservation, and to generally give them a heads up that a large group would be coming in.
When we arrived there were only three other customers in the restaurant, yet we had to wait outside for nearly 20 minutes before being seated (despite having called ahead). Once seated, it was OVER AN HOUR before we received food...and again, only three other customers in the restaurant.
Although our server was very friendly, she was completely disorganized, kept forgetting things we'd asked for and continually said that she'd be back in "half a second" which was never less than 10 minutes. It was another hour before we were able to pay our bill. We saw our server and the other staff hanging around the bar, laughing it up and completely neglecting us.
The food was fine, nothing too great. I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwhich, which was very small for it's $8.75 price tag. The kicker was that they were out of jam...a restaurant that serves breakfast all day HAD NO JAM?!?! This boggled my mind.
I would certainly never return, and will be quick to discourage others to visit Emanon.
Great Food, Friendly Service – Great Breakfast Place! Great food!
Accomodating for special requests.
Their french toast is to-die-for :-)
Great art. Friendly staff.
Great breakfast – I had a good experience at Emanon for breakfast on Sunday. I came in, found a booth and stuck around for a while to enjoy my Old Country omlet and a few spicy bloody mary's. The food was great and my server very attentive. The only thing that struck me as strange was the server laying down the bill unasked and without asking if I needed anything else, which I did. Also, at the bottom of the itemized bill they print, "Gratuity Not Included!" Is that really necessary? Implying that I'm either an idiot or out to stiff the staff?
Very Fresh food, accomodating staff! – We went for a lateish breakfast, about 10:30am. The food and service was excellent! I had a shrimp omelet that was delicious. All the ingredients were very fresh and tasty, right down to the diced tomatoes and buttery omelet.Good thing I got the hollandaise sauce on the side because that was NOT good. greasy, seperated, just yuk! The lemon scone which came w/ breakfast was the bomb! very tasty, soft in the middle and a little crunchy on the edges. The home fried potatoes were very fresh, tasty & delicious. Coffee was OK - pretty non descript. The place was freezing - and the chairs were kind of small & hard...that was my only real complaint.
carnivorous_pretzel had ham & brei omelet that she liked very much. I would go there again. Lunch menu looked really good too. It woud probably be warmer then as well!
Great Lunch spot – Good Food.... resonably priced, nice atmosphere... Music, a bit to hard rock, but still alright. Service, waitress was attentive, but waiting for the food was long... perhaps an overworked chef? It was well worth the wait, but we were not able to get in, get the meal and eat within our one hour lunch break...
Decent food, spotty service – We frequent this place on a semi-regular basis. The burgers and other lunch fare is usually good, and they do know how to cook their potatoes!
Sometimes the ambience and service can be spotty, though. Several times the music at brunch time has been loud, hard rock, which is a little unsettling.
Although the staff are friendly, it can take some time to get served if they're spread too thin.
We like Emanon because it's unpretentious and they serve honest food. It's a refreshing change from the restaurants in the Pearl and many of the places on NW 21st or 23rd.
