Not perfect, but better than a Sunday @ Fairway – I used FreshDirect when they first started, many years ago. They were just okay, they used to do things like forget to pack half your order & then not apologize & take weeks to process your refund. So I stopped using them. I started back a few months ago & they have definitely changed. The last few months, I've always had positive customer service experiences, they haven't forgotten any part of any of my orders and the drivers have been great. Their fresh stuff (meat, fish, veg, & fruit) has not disappointed my so far. I don't order any pre-made meals, b/c the one I got was horrible, but their par-cooked & uncooked bakery items are good. The only weird thing is sometimes you get a box with, like, one thing in it. Seems like a waste. If you don't want to deal with shopping at Brooklyn Fairway on a Sunday, with it's brigade of morons, who don't seem to understand how to maneuver a shopping cart or a child, and you don't want go into full-on panic-attack mode, get some stuff delivered and cook with some decent meat from FreshDirect. BTW, maybe the day before Thanksgiving is not the best time to give them a try, that's just bad planning. (And YOU should tell YOUR doorman to put YOUR stuff in the freezer YOURself.)

Fresh Direct, Deceptive Website and poor service – My Thanksgiving was ruined by Fresh Direct. After placing a long order on website, message popped up that deadline for delivery for Thanksgiving was reached. It came up at Checkout. If it was there earlier it was NOT obvious. I would have spent my time shopping somewhere where I could get the food before ThanksgivingCalled and they said delivery passed earlier in day and apologized. When I complained they said they sent emails to customers--I did not receive and this wouldn't help any new customers. All I got was an empty apology

It's never right – I used them for about year. Almost every order either had items missing or was replaced with an item THEY believed was close enough. Then you have to call them that I didn't get something, they will give you store credit but no refund. And I'm sorry, when I order organic eggs, don't send me regular eggs and say they were close enough.

In addition their self-made food... ooh, it's really really tasteless. The salads are always like frozen so when you open them they look like they are going bad.

And finally good luck with getting your order on time.

The extra alk to the grocery is worth it. Forget these guys.

RUDE and STUPID employees!!~ Use Dagastino instead! – I have multiple problems with Fresh Direct so hold on tight..

(1) For whatever reason, these morons said that my building is listed as a commercial building and they arent able to change that in their systems. What that means is, they can only deliver M-F between 9-5pm. I am AT WORK during those times. On top of that, my delivery charges are $10 more than normal residence

(2)I ordered frozen items from them and I noted (in bold and caps) in the Delivery Instructions to let the doorman know that there are frozen items in the order. The delivery person did NOT tell him, so the doorman did not put the items in the freezer but in the fridge. So ALL my frozen items melted and got all over the rest of my order!

(3) I called to complain about the order because not only did I have to throw the frozen items out, but I also had to throw a bunch of the other stuff out because it had melted ice cream, etc on it! The female call rep was VERY insensitive, not apologetic, and basically said "its not our job to put frozen items into your freezer" Is she f-ing retarded!? I asked her what the purpose of the delivery instructions were and she goes "That's not the point. THe point is the delivery man is there to deliver. Not to put things in freezers." WHile I understand her point, she didnt answer my question. A delivery man should READ the delivery instructions. Just MENTIONING To my doorman that there were frozen items in the order isnt that hard, is it????? Are Fresh Directs' delivery employees that much of an idiot that they cant read?!?!?!?

I spoke to the people in my building and they said they've had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE from Fresh Direct and that's why they only order from Dagastino because DAG has reliable service (with delivery people that can READ!)

Horrible customer service – Fresh Direct has the worst customer service ever!

Tuesday night before Thanksgiving I was home waiting for my order until 11:30pm. No one bothered to tell me it wasn't coming, or contact me in any way. When I finally did get through to customer service I was told my order wouldn't be delivered until around 1am. No apology or anything. And considering I needed to be up at 6am on Weds, that really was not acceptable. After talking to the supervisor, she agreed to try to deliver it before 8am on Weds, and if they weren't able to do that, it would be delivered between 2:30pm and 7pm on Weds.

7:30am arrived on Weds and I called to check on it and was told that I couldn't get it before 8am, and someone would call me back within an hour to let me know what was going on. 8:30am arrived and I hadn't heard anything so I called again. I was told they were still working on it and they would let me know. Another hour and a half passed and I called again and was told they would be delivering it between 2:30pm and 7pm.

When I called from the train on my way home because I was running ten mins late, I was told the truck was running late too, which worked in my favor and the girl giggled a little. When I got home I sent an email and was assured my delivery was on the way and would be there by 7pm, so instead of going to meet my sister at the airport, I sent a car for her and stayed at home and waited.

At 5:30pm when I called they said it would be delivered in 30-45 mins.

At 6:30pm when I called they said they couldn't find my order and that they would get a new one out to me and asked when I would be home. Since my family had tickets to a show that night, I said I wouldn't be home until 11pm and I was assured that it would be delivered at 11pm.

When 11pm came there was no truck and when I called they said it would be coming but they didn't know when, at which point I said if it couldn't be there in 1/2 hour I didn't want it since most of the things including the main dish weren't actually available.

I was told that they would try, and that was the last I heard.

So Thanksgiving morning, I got up early and headed into the city and went shopping for the Thanksgiving dinner and vowed to never order from Fresh Direct again!

Extremely rotten melons from Fresh Direct in past 3 orders! – I have gotten completely rotten melons in the last 3 orders from fresh direct- so rotten that they were obvious and should NEVER have been sent out in the first place. I mean the fruit felt like a balloon, like it was filled with "jelly-water" -not just a bit overripe! So rotten that when you picked them up (in my case just to throw them in the garbage) you had to handle them so carefully so as not to let your fingers go into the rotten fruit! Completely rotten! Disgusting! I order weekly and I know they credit back always. But I am fed up. I want fruit I would have chosen if I were shopping at the store. Any fruit monger- heck, an untrained stock boy- could easily have been able to tell these melons were completely rotten. It is insulting to be sent rotten fruit over and over again!

Has anyone else been getting rotten fruit also?

Horrible Delivery Experience – We placed an order for the 4-6pm Friday window. Forty minutes after this window, the driver called said something we could not understand and then never appeared. We called customer service and they said he "tried." The order was then suppose to arrive between 9-11am Saturday so we changed our plans and once again, no delivery. We called customer service and were told the driver called our cell and we failed to answer. The cell phone number they have shows no record of such a call. We're now on our third deliver window and still no food.

In the past our orders are usually just missing items, but this is ridiculous and we will not use them again.

FRESH DIRECT losing it's touch – I am sorry to have to write this to you but I must. I was reluctant to order the steamed lobsters again because of the bad experience with the undercooked lobsters of the day before. When I spoke with their representative I was assured that the undercooked lobster was a 'fluke' and she assured me that the next order will be perfectly cooked.

So I kept this order in place and we looked forward to having the two lobsters for dinner tonight.

Shocked! Disappointed! Appalled! These lobsters are SOFT SHELLED LOBSTERS not the regular Hard Shelled Lobsters sold at fish mongers and offered in ALL restaurants. These soft shelled lobsters are

full of sea water, so their actual weight of meat is just a few ounces..the rest being water and shell.

When a lobster has a soft shell, it's because it's beginning to molt and it is ready to

take on a lot of water in its tissue. Until the hard shell is formed, the lobster meat is very watery.

Soft shelled lobsters are NOT sold in restaurants nor are they sold by retail fish stores for this reason.

Soft shelled lobsters are CHEAPER because there's not as much meat, because it hasn't filled in it's shell yet.

The FISH MONGER AT FRESH DIRECT should be ashamed of himself. Promoting these steamed lobsters without saying they are water filled soft shelled...every customer rightfully assumes they were hard shelled.

Disgraceful! Fresh Direct is slowly going down the tubes. Quality of your food is deteriorating and deceptive marketing is found in every department.

SKIP THEIR DELIVERY – In three out of my last three orders with Fresh Direct, an expensive item or multiple items were missing. In one instance over half the order was missing. I was charged for the items and when I called customer service (a horrible experience) I was given credit toward my next order... when they did the same thing all over again.

Somebody in the company is ripping off the consumers and their service is a nightmare.

It's amazing – Great prices. Incredible website. Excellent, fresh fish, meat, produce, all. Wide variety. Friendly, courteous delivery people. No schlepping. Cons: no same day delivery; sometimes it's hard to get a last minute delivery slot.
