Beware of this Place!!! These Ladies are Rude!!! – My girlfriends and I went here and were sadly disappointed. The shop is beautiful, but the staff is very unfriendly. Our tea was cold and was overpriced. The high tea is not traditional and the food was very bland. I would rather go to a gas station for tea than this place. When we told them our tea was cold they said that we were mistaken and walked away. These ladies are really really not professional!!! Do not waste your money.

Unfriendly and Substandard Service, but Good Tea – When I logged on to write this review, I wasn't surprised to see that another had given the service at the Pineapple Tea Room a poor rating.

I truly wanted to like this place and was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon with my girlfriends. Unfortunately, we were given clues as to the unfriendly nature of the owners prior to even arriving. One of the individuals in my party requested to have the mayo removed from some of the items and received a very rude response stating that mayo was an essential "high tea" ingredient. Many people become physicaly ill by mayo, so it was surprising to me that they considered her request to be out-of-the-ordinary. Even so, we were eager to enjoy our afternoon and willing to overlook that first exchange.

When we arrived for our tea, we could barely squeeze through the store, due to all of the trinkets. We were shown to our seats, which were in the far back of the store, and realized how horribly situated they were. There were two tiny rounds, pushed against a wall, and four seats were facing forward, towards the wall. So, it was not the ideal setting for a conversation considering we all had to look at the wall rather than each other. The owners here were "rude with a smile" if you know what I mean. Their faces said "I'm happy," but their words indicated otherwise. The devonshire cream was not traditional at all (as the previous poster indicated), it was yellow-ish and tasted like a whipped butter. I make a traditional devonshire cream at home and it doesn't even resemble what they serve in taste and appearance. The tea was good, I also liked some of the sweets, but the scones were dry and tasteless.

I would have given this place a far higher rating if the owners weren't so rude and unappreciative of their patrons. I will say that the owner with short dark hair was far nicer than the one with the blonde-ish bob. Unfortunately, there isn't enough room to list all of the rude behavior we experienced here.

Poor customer service, but nice products – I had an English friend in town visiting and so I thought we'd enjoy an afternoon tea in downtown Apex. The Pineapple Tea Room does have a nice selection of teas and tea-related items. The afternoon tea itself, however, was rather disappointing. Both my friend and I inquired about the French Breakfast tea since we did not see English Breakfast on the menu. Our hostess said it was quite nice and had a creamy quality to it. We both ordered it and anxiously awaited our steaming teapots. After our first sips of the tea, we looked at each other and tried to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with the tea. It was certainly not at all like an English Breakfast tea and had some other sweet flavor mixed in-- possibly vanilla. When our hostess returned a short while later to inquire how we were enjoying the tea, I reluctantly (and pleasantly) told her that it had some flavor we did not like or expect and did they have a plainer tea available? She seemed surprised and said yes, they could bring us English Breakfast tea, but they would have to charge us extra! We were astounded. We were paying $18 per person for a cup of tea, a few finger sandwiches a piece, a few small, assorted pastries, and a scone and they were going to charge us extra for tea! Both my friend and I have had high tea in a variety of locations and cannot believe that any of them would charge extra for requesting a different tea. In fact, most other places offering high tea encourage the patrons to try a different tea after they have finished their first selection. Not so here. At any rate, the selection of pastries and sandwiches was nice, but nothing spectacular. The Devon cream did not appear to be true Devon cream, but perhaps a whipped cream or something. Disappointing since the Pineapple Tea Room does, indeed, sell Devon cream in its store. The English Breakfast tea they charged us for turned out to be delicious, but we were never offered more hot water.

Tea for two, with a taste of Southern hospitality. – In Short
A beautiful antique shop filled with all things darling: tea, tea accessories, small lamps and bath products. Step deeper into the store to enter the tea parlor, where you'll find an extension of the Victorian decor. This shop offers a multitude of fascinating teas. Exotic, light and ice cream flavors are all available. Sweets include a small sampling of desserts, like baklava, brownies, cookies or pound cake smothered with lemon curd.
