My favorite BBQ place! I go here all the time and I love it!. I have been going to the location off of raymond and el toro ever since it opened 2 years ago and I would never go anywhere else. The food quality is fantastic their ribs have so much meat on them i can even believe it. The waitress's are very friendly and are always helpful to me. It continues to be good time and again!!!
The Worst BBQ Place In OC.
Very poor service and the worst bbq i have ever been to , the food was cold and tasted like a shoe!!!

Poor example of a rib place. I decided to take some friends here because it sounded good. That was the only good thing about it. There was one waitress who handled the whole place (obviously she couldn't give the service needed). There were 6 of us that ordered but when the food came there were only 4 orders. We literally waited 10 minutes for the other two orders which were COLD. I let them know this and they didn't do anything. Then I went up to the counter with my food and they put my whole plate in the microwave (even the coleslaw). The bottom line here is that the food was mediocre at best. We will not go back and I don't get how you can call yourself a Texas Barbeque when the ribs are cold and flavorless. I love food and usually don't complain but this place really needs to be more concerned about what they are feeding the customers.
Nothing better in Orange County. As a native of Kansas City I have high standards for BBQ. As of now, we've never tasted anything in Orange County worth coming back for - except Texas Pit BBQ. Their beef brisket is the best choice on the menu boasting a thick pink smoke ring followed closely by the pork ribs. The beans are one of the best sides but some of the others (like the coleslaw and macaroni salad) are just average. I'm not a fan of KC Masterpiece sauce, and Texas Pit BBQ beats that sauce hands down. If you like BBQ, definitely try this restaurant. The Rockfield location is in a somewhat seedy area, but the El Toro location brings back the feel of a down home comfortable place to share a dinner.
Lame excuse for BBQ. Highly disappointing!!! I should have known I was in trouble when there were only two customers in the place during lunch time on a Friday. I ordered the 4 meat combo plate. Ribs tasted ok, but no smoke flavor. Sausage tasted ok. Brisket was a shredded pile of mush with sauce mixed in it. Chicken had hard skin and tough meat. The only smoke flavor in any of the meat appeared to come from the sauce; none of the meat had a smoke ring. The beans tasted like they came straight from the can; nothing additional added. The macaroni salad tasted like the stuff they sell in the big cartons at Smart & Final; mediocre at best. The corn bread was slightly soft on the outside and hard as a rock on the inside. The best I could figure is that it was baked a couple of days earlier and heated in a microwave oven prior to serving.
You Gotta Try This Place!. I'm from Texas, and I think bbq in California is a joke... Except for this place! This is almost authentic. I say almost, because they still look at me funny when I ask for onions and pickle for my chopped beef sandwich. On the whole, this place is good stuff.
