So sad to see Love's go.......... – We just ate at Love's Barbecue and Grill tonight (07/13/07), and were sad to hear that, at the end of this month, Love's will no longer be open. Unfortunately, a seafood restaurant will be taking it's place. Love's has been there forever and a day and held many fond memories for my family as we spent almost every family celebration there. Bye bye Love's.
Oldest pork ribs ever! – I ate at this place twice on a recent visit to California. There's a nice little bar in the restaurant with very cold beer. But the restaurant, there's gotta be a catch when you get a half slab of ribs and 2 sides for $11. And there is! That stuff was old like I don't know how to describe it. Not fresh or even close. I used to be fat and would eat anything, but I lost some weight and now I can't stand to see people eating food that's not good. The food you eat should be fresh and wholesome, not inexpensive and old!
Best pork ribs anywhere, Try All You Can Chicken on Sundays, good prices, great food, great beans – Love's is a GREAT place to bring the family. Adults and kids both love the food. I've enjoyed eating at Love's since arriving in San Diego in 1977. They have the best pork ribs you will find anywhere, bar none, and I've tried ribs everywhere over the years. Some come close, but Love's is the standard every rib place has to measure up to. I prefer the original glaze, but all three Love's glazes are great. On Sundays, they have "All You Can Chicken" for $12 adults and $6 kids under 12. Literally, all the barbequed chicken you can eat, served family style with huge fries, salad or soup, and their special Love's beans, which are great. Love's own barbecue sauce is always on the table, and if you ask, they will bring a free side dish of the barbecue sauce warmed up. They provide complimentary refills on beverages. They have a great dessert cart, too, but we usually pass, since we've eaten so much by then. Kids get a scoop of chocolate or spumoni ice cream with their children's meal.
Love's had several locations at one time, but they lost their lease at the Mission Valley location a couple of years ago, and I suppose at the other locations, too. I just hope the Chula Vista location never closes. I learned today that a new owner has purchased Love's, so let's hope that means many more years of good food to come. We usually go on our special occasions -- birthdays, anniversaries, Mothers Day (they give the women a heart necklace), Valentines Day, and whenever we are craving good food. Believe me, it is worth a drive to Chula Vista to enjoy their food. Take the 805 to the E Street exit and go West about 50 yards. Love's is on the right.
